Travelon Anti-Theft Classic Mini Shoulder Bag

This anti-theft durable (but looks nice) travel bag is exactly what I was looking for. Such a smart design, holds a lot but at the same time isn't too big, and even though it's made from durable moisture resistant tough material it looks nice. A very classic style. I like to use a small backpack during travel but wanted something more secure. Everything I looked at was either too small, too large, or used too much velcro - and then I found this travel purse/bag and based on previous reviews decided to give it a try. Perfect size, secure zippers, no velcro. Smart choice! SIZE: Just the right size. Easily holds my phone (iPhone 13ProMax), glasses case, passport, small wallet, keys, sunscreen/travel items. I like to use small zipper bags for organization and these fit inside perfectly as well. SECURITY: The bag has 4 exterior zippers. The main compartment zipper secures with a metal clasp to a metal ring. The same for a front compartment zipper that is also under a snap closure flap. There's an interior metal clasp on a short nylon cord. The interior card/ID pockets are snug and secure. DESIGN: Good security measures - no bag is fool proof but this has zipper clasps and the overall design itself is a deterrent. There's two outside zipper pockets, unsecured, but one is always on the side next to me so I'm not too concerned. The shoulder straps are wide, very tough and durable material, and attached on one side by a sturdy metal clasp. There's strong slide adjustments to use when changing the length the straps. On the its smallest loop the bag fits over my shoulder and tucked under my arm. Extended I can make it any length cross body I prefer. The material is a very tough nylon. COLOR: Good selection of colors. For an upcoming trip I wanted something neutral but also pretty so I chose the green Spruce. It's very pretty and I love it for day to day, too. I'm wondering though if the Midnight color might be more understated and go with everything while traveling.

Used this bag during travel to Europe. It was perfect. Worn as crossbody - felt very safe. Had perfect inside pocket for passport, outer pocket with zipper and flap for other items. Additional small zipper pocket was perfect for Metro cards, hotel room key, etc. Small, lightweight, but had tons of room for everything that I needed. Would definitely recommend for travel - or any other use.

I wasn't quite sure which bag I wanted so I purchased four and compared them. This bag and the bottle tote are my favourite. The mini shoulder bag is just the right size to carry essentials, but is not big enough for everything and the kitchen sink. The material is rough and feels water repellant at least, if not waterproof. It measures 9.5 inches in length by 9 inches in width at the widest point. There are four pockets altogether. 1. Small front pocket without a lock, 3.5 inches deep, which would fit a chapstick or other small items. 2. Under a flap there is a lockable pocket that is about 7 inches deep. It's pretty narrow with one small inner pocket. Unsure what would fit in there. Also unsure if this pocket is also RIFD protected? 3. The main pocket is the widest and is lockable. It has three credit card sized slots, a passport sized pocket, a cell phone sized pocket, and a sunglasses sized pocket. It also has a light - very useful. The inner pockets are all a light grey interior which is helpful when trying to find what you need. I loved the beautiful blue they used to be, but this grey, while boring, is more functional. The main pocket is purportedly RIFD safe. I don't know how to test that. One can only hope that is the case. 4. The back pocket is not lockable and is 7 inches in depth. When traveling be careful what you put in here as it is easily accessible. The bag, with nothing in it, is very narrow. In one of the pictures I put a water bottle inside to show how much it can expand. Again, this bag can fit only the essentials. It's a good minimalist bag. The locks are very easy to use. In comparison to the pacsafe bag that I purchased and returned, they are *much* easier to use and lock with a satisfying click. The strap is very stiff and rough because of the slashproof wiring inside. In comparison with pacsafe it is not as flexible or comfortable. The buckle could do with a little padding, but when I had the bag on (empty, for five seconds) to test it, it didn't rub or chafe. It is easily adjustable and can be quite short or very long depending on your preference. In one picture you can see the mini shoulder bag placed on top of the midnight blue east/west crossbody bag. It is slightly longer and narrower. In another you can see the mini shoulder bag placed under the classic black bag. It is slightly shorter and wider. This is an excellent all-around bag that will keep your valuables safe.

I’ve tried so many other bags over the years looking for a small, but not to small, easy to travel with, easy to use (well placed pockets and zippered areas) purse. And I finally found it! I didn’t even get it for all the safety features, but think they’re pretty cool and overall have felt like my stuff was safer. If only because it sits well across my body and isn’t bulky. But it’s still amazingly roomy! It won’t fit a big ol long wallet easily with a phone, but the card slots inside are perfect for travel and honestly I don’t need to carry every card with me all the time. Most inside card slots aren’t easily accessible in my experience but these are. With past purses I would struggle with finding what I needed or everything ending up in the one big pocket…but with this purse I’m finding it way easier to organize and best of all, locate my various baubles without digging. I am awkward as hell on a normal day…put me in even a slightly more anxious situation, (ie: airport, travel to unknown places, just being forced to quickly find anything) and the awkwardness sky rockets to embarrassing degrees. (Which makes a couple of my MS symptoms pop up and makes things exponentially worse) This purse has helped me feel less awkward and more in control in those situations I get a little more stressed. Weird take on a purse maybe, but if I feel like this, I have to assume so do others! In conclusion of a rambling review: Pros: lightweight, fits body well, secure, sooo many useful pockets with zippers and easily accessible front pockets for quickly needed stuff so you’re not an awkward jumble of a person attempting to located your own crap in your own purse. (Also purple is my color and this is a good color purple without being garish.) Cons: So far, none!

This is my go-to-use-every-day bag! I love it! Love the size, pockets and organization inside, the cut-resistant strap & RFID protection. Just buy it!

Took this travel purse to France recently and believe it may be a perfect purse! It is lightweight with numerous zippered exterior pockets and well organized interior spots for keys, credit cards, money, passports, glasses, lipstick, etc without being bulky if you plan it correctly. I am an experienced traveler who has tried many purses and travel bags. This for me has proven to be just the right size, with just the right theft preventing items built in, with just the right strap for lengthening or shortening for any body type. It is simple in style, hugs the body, is easy for the owner to use, but would be off putting to a thief assuming the wearer is a conscientious traveler. Highly recommend this great travel purse!

Although I had already acquired three other small-sized shoulder/carry bags this past year, I went ahead and ordered this mini shoulder bag several weeks ago, based upon product description, and consumer reviews. Why did I order yet another small bag when I already had three? Because there was ‘something missing’ with the other bags … I found it in the Travelon Anti-Theft Classic Mini Shoulder Bag! All the best features of a larger (and more expensive) shoulder bag - without the bulk, weight, expense, and hassle of carting around a larger, more cumbersome bag. HERE’S WHAT MAKES THIS LITTLE BAG SUCH A BIG DEAL: * At 9.5” D X 8.5” W X 2.5” D (when empty) the bag is compact yet serviceable. * The strap can be adjusted to provide a maximum shoulder-strap drop of about 30” (admittedly, beneficial only to persons with baboon-length arms), and a minimum of 16” - or anywhere in between. NOTE: ‘shoulder strap drop’ represents the measurement of the strap from the top of the purse/bag to the peak (center) of the extended strap. (Straps measuring less than 7” are usually carried in the hand, straps measuring between 7” and 21” are usually carried on the shoulder, and straps that measure over 20” are usually worn across the body - messenger bag style.) * The strap features a large carabineer clip with a safety lock (see images #7 and #12). This allows the strap to be wrapped around a chair, bench, or post, etc. - and then locked for added safety. (i.e. - when sitting in a food court to enjoy a meal, sitting in an airport terminal while waiting to board a plane, et. Or, in a pinch, use the strap's carabineer to clip onto Fido’s dog collar, for a temporary leash … smile.) * The strap and lower part of the bag body are reinforced with panels made from flexible stainless steel chain-link mesh. Although bendable, supple, and visually undetectable, this high-tech mesh/cable is tough and offers slash-proof protection from would-be ‘slash-and-run’ purse snatchers. NOTE: bag slashing is the #1 method of thieves who rob travelers; the #1 bag theft venue is shoe stores. * The bag weighs only about 10 ounces, but helps to keep hands free. Even filled, it is vey lightweight compared to other purses, which can put stress on shoulders and become uncomfortable and burdensome as the day wears on. * The inside of the bag is a lighter or brighter color. I ordered my bag in the stone color; the inside lining is a bright red. (See images #4 and #11.) This is not only pretty, but it makes it easier to identify objects inside the main and outside compartments - especially in low light situations. * An LED light on a tethered key clip that hangs from a sturdy 2.5” cord is located on the side wall, inside the main compartment. (See images #8 and #9.) The light is detachable; it is powered via a small cell battery, which is included. This is a handy feature for low-light to no-light situations, whether to locate objects inside the main compartment of the bag, or to use in the dark to see close range (i.e. - when putting a key inside a house or car door lock). The clip that holds the LED light is large and sturdy enough to accommodate another small object on a ring - such as keys, purse-sized mace or pepper spray, personal alarm, or emergency ultra sonic dog repellant, etc. * The main compartment can be ‘locked’ via a small but sturdy clip, attached to the main compartment zipper. (See image #6.) * There are 2 zippered pockets on the outside of the bag. One pocket measures approx. 6” D X 7” W (See image #11); the other one is approx. 3.5” D X 6” W (See image #3). * In addition to the 2 outside zippered pockets mentioned above is a roomy flap pocket that is secured with a magnetic snap (See images #2, #3, and #4). This pocket (which also has a zipper) measures approx. 7.5” D X 8.5” W. AND - inside the flap pocket is yet another pocket that measures approx. 4” D X 5” wide (see image #4) - the perfect size to hold sunglasses, eyeglasses, cell phone, or a small notebook, etc. * The main compartment features Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) blocking technology for credit cards and passports. There are 4 sleeves for credit cards; each is roomy enough to hold several cards (See image #8). Located behind the credit card sleeves is a roomy 3.5” D X 4.5” W pocket, also fortified with RFID-blocking technology, large enough for passports, additional cards, etc. (See image #10.) *Opposite the RFID-blocking credit card and passport sleeves are 2 ADDITIONAL pockets, side-by-side (see image #9) - each approx. 4” D X 4” W. Perfect for cellphone, keys, tissue, compact, lip balm, MP3 player and earbuds, etc. IMPORTANT NOTE: RFID-blocking shields only HELP to insulate you from electronic pickpocketing - also known as ‘RFID card skimming.’ While the blocking shields DO make it more difficult for someone with an electronic reader to steal your information, they DO NOT block transmission of card data 100%. However, if you have credit cards with the tiny computer chip that uses radio frequency identification - also known as ‘Near Field Communication’ (NFC) - a simple homemade feature can help fortify the already-in-place defense of the RFID-blocking attribute of the bag. Either make a sleeve for your credit cards using duct tape lined with aluminum foil, or line the pocket that holds your credit cards and/or passport with aluminum foil. According to ConsumerReports.org, this added safety measure will entirely block attempts at RFID card skimming - 100%. WHAT I PERSONALLY LOVE ABOUT MY NEW TRAVELON ANTI-THEFT SHOULDER BAG: * I ordered my bag in the color ‘stone.’ The bag has slightly more of a taupe hue than what is pictured online, but I like it better. The bag is made from 900 D polyester, with an obviously water repellent finish. See images #1, #2, and #3. (‘D’ represents the weight of the fabric; 900 D being a high-quality and sturdy fabric.) * Instead of being my ‘when-traveling-or-on-a-day-trip-bag-of-choice’ that I expected it to be, it has become my favorite shoulder bag for everyday use. * I purchased my classic mini shoulder bag online at Amazon.com for $30.10. This price is lower than what I would have paid for it at Travelon.com, Overstock.com, and eBaggs.com. Also, because it was listed as a Prime product, I paid nothing for shipping, and received the bag in only two days - which makes it an even sweeter deal. * Love, love, love the tethered LED light … it proves to be a handy little feature. * Although small and lightweight, this well-designed bag holds a lot! IN ADDTION TO all my credit cards AND my fat wallet with checkbook (albeit, not fat with money), I have the following stored my mini shoulder bag: eyeglass case, cell phone, pens, small notebook, lip gloss, travel size tissue pack, store receipts, coin purse, 8-inch Samsung tablet in its case, MP3 player and earbuds. My sunglasses can hang inside a cloth case from one of the external clips or rings … leaving room to spare inside the bag, not to mention one external pocket still totally empty. * I love and appreciate all the great safety features in this bag design, so that I can spend more time focused on enjoying the moment. * The mouth of the main compartment opens a full 6.5” wide! (See image #9.) * Because it is so lightweight, it is a great choice for people like me, with back and/or shoulder problems. It doesn’t pull on sore muscles and is more comfortable to carry on my shoulder than any other bag I own - AND the strap STAYS PUT on my shoulder, better and for longer periods of time (instead of repeatedly slipping off, the way most of the straps on other shoulder bags do). Note: I paid full price for my mini shoulder bag; I DID NOT get it free or at a reduced price in exchange for an evaluation. So, why did I take the time to write such a detailed review? First, because I am a writer. Secondly, because I am like you. I depend upon the comments and experiences of other consumers when making an Amazon purchasing decision.

I bought this item for an overseas trip, wanting a functional bag that would hold all my essentials while keeping them secure. This bag definitely fit the bill and I carried it with me everywhere. It looks small but I was able to stuff more items there than I expected. It’s also light weight which is great when you’ve been carrying it around all day and my shoulder didn’t hurt. The neutral colour means it goes with any outfit. Very pleased with this 😊😊😊

I always put my wallet in my purse anyway, so why not ditch the wallet and put all the cards in the card pockets? It has lots of pockets for essentials like keys, phone, zip area for cash, but slim/compact enought that I can't try to jam everything I own into it so remains lightweight. I like the security measures, can never be too safe these days. I liked it so much I ordered the small cross body bag (only large enough for the essentials) and the saddle bag that were on sale. I also like that there's no ornate nonsense on the bags that catches the eye, less of a target for theft if they look kinda boring.

This is a great little bag with enough pockets to hold a remarkable amount of stuff. The black version passes as an acceptable manbag and the locking clasps on the zips are fiddly enough that I felt confident that it would dissuade most pickpockets from trying. The bag is still vulnerable to being snatched off your shoulder, but you can actually use the locking clasp to attach it to a trouser belt loop if you're that concerned. However, that's less likely anyway given the anti-slash protection. I spent a week with this in March in Barcelona (pickpocket capital of the world, supposedly) and as far as I'm aware nobody even tried. I paired this with my walking trousers that have zippable pockets as this provided quicker access to my phone and small change. The card holders in the bag can eliminate the need for a wallet, mine spent the whole week in the hotel room safe. I also had two small cameras, the rest of my cash, Metro passes and lots of misc leaflets and other stuff you pick up while touristing. When we needed bigger low-value items (e.g. coats, water etc), these went in a rucksack. The bag is not cheap but it bought me peace of mind and was actually more useful than my other satchel bag.

I love this purse! It is lightweight, great quality and a fun colour (purple). I need a slightly smaller wallet, as I do find it occasionally difficult to get my wallet in and out of the purse. The little light on the inside is a terrific detail! I am considering the black version too. :)
