My son loves these shakers!
These are great little toys. I first discovered them in the music class my 11 month old is taking. They are the perfect size for the kids' little hands, not too loud, and fun. We play with them all the time. Plus they are very inexpensive, so it one gets lost or eaten by the dog you don't feel that bad.

Shaker egg
I bought my original "shaker egg" in an esoteric music store somewhere in Maine. It did a galant job of providing rhythm during group sings. The better part of the purchase came several years later after the arrival of grandchildren. These eggs fit smoothly into little hands and are too big to fit in little mouths. The children love to shake this toy with varying degrees of rhythm. I was delighted to find them for sale on Amazon.

A fun to shake little egg
This is a good little plastic shaker egg. It's a little smaller than I expected (we have a wooden shaker egg that is a bit bigger) but I wouldn't consider it any kind of choking hazard for my one year old. Has a nice, rich shaker sound and feels good in the hand. Nice.

definite choking hazard for children
While these shakers are well made and perfectly sized for little hands to make delightful music, they are very small (about the size of a small chicken egg) and failed the toilet tube test - they easily fit inside a toilet tube, thus could be swallowed and choke a young child. The recommendation is for ages 3+, so be sure to select this particular egg shaker for older children who have stopped putting everything in their mouths. I'd suggest 5 years and up as a class pack for elementary aged students and avoid having these in any household with infants and toddlers. Basic Beat Single Egg ShakerBasic Beat Single Egg Shaker

Way overpriced!
I guess I was duped by the photo into thinking I was buying more than one egg shaker, although it does say "single egg shaker." $6.00 for one little egg shaker? My toddler loves it, but next time I would buy the set of 4 for $8.00 offered by another manufacturer. Quite a rip! If black stuff starts oozing out of the crack, I'll really be disappointed!
