The Canary Islands: A Cultural History Hardcover – June 6, 2017

I have been to the Canaries six times, and love the islands. I wanted to learn more about their culture and history. Unfortunately, despite the title, and the author being a native Canarian, I did not. The book is mostly a long, namedropping ramble about cultural and other famous people from other places, which have visited the islands and what they saw, but with little actual historical and cultural information - i.e. a very low signal to noise ratio.The book is also written in long, meandering sentences, repeating over and over, repeating like I do now, in this style I write in now, these sentences that meander along, and makes the book heavy to read and longer than necessary, this book that meanders along.May be this is a deliberate wannabe-literary writing style, but it comes across as if the author wrote a first draft, and never bothered to run it by an editor before publishing.

Waste of time buying, the author rabbits on as though he is a poet. When I bought it for information as I am considering going there to live. Not helpful.
