Stunning, heartfelt picture book.
Wonderful picture book. Used this for my small class of autistic 11 year olds. Perfect for helping them to use and develop their language & story telling skills. They loved the stunning art work and the emotions the pictures display.

The book is so beautiful and I completely adore it.
Wolf in the snow is a wordless children’s picture book about a young girl who upon walking home from school becomes lost in a blizzard. As she walks across the land trying to find her way home she comes across a lost wolf pup who is cold and scared. Although she is lost herself she is determined to reunite the wolf with his family and sets out looking for them. It’s not often I get to review a book that doesn’t have any words but this book doesn’t need words as the illustrations tell the story perfectly.I’m not surprised this book has won the Caldecott award as it is so poignant and heartwarming. I was touched by the little girl’s big heart and her need to help the pup and also by the wolves too who in return help the little girl. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and believe me these pictures show exactly what this phrase means. The book is so beautiful and I completely adore it.Book Reviewed on Whispering Stories Book Blog*I received a free copy of this book, which I voluntarily reviewed

Stunning Illustrations.
When a school girl becomes lost in the chaos of a snowstorm, and a wolf cub loses track of his family through the gale, they stumble upon each other and help each other find their way home.Incidentally, the story is told entirely through beautiful full-page illustrations and the occasional "Bark". It still manages to convey the confusion and sorrow shared between the characters; some of the wolf illustrations are incredible. It struggles to really capture the friendship between the characters, largely because the young girl has her face mostly obscured throughout, but the message is there.I don't think this will be a story for everyone - particularly for those children who prefer to have a story read to them - but I think it does a good job of bringing a winter, wholesome story to the forefront.ARC provided free from the publishers in exchange for an honest review.

Spoiler-free: A lovely, emotional and beautifully illustrated story told in pictures.
Wow! This is such a beautiful and amazing book with such a lovely story, told entirely through pictures. 'Wolf in the Snow' in paperback is around A4 in size (almost) with thick glossy pages of beautiful illustrations which tell a wonderful story. A girl is heading home in a blizzard from school, at the same time a wolf pack is walking through the same blizzard with a cub that's falling behind. The blizzard is tough on both the girl and the cub, but when they meet what will happen? The story is told entirely from the illustrations and you should really begin by looking at the images at the very start of the book (before the author dedication, title, etc.) as these images show the girl at home with her family. After that the story begins with the girl on her way home from school in the blizzard. The red outfit she wears is definitely reminiscent of Red Riding Hood although this is quite not the same as this one is a beautiful one about the care and friendship of both the wolf and the girl (although the general danger of the wolves is still present). The girl finds the wolf cub exhausted in the snow and decides to pick him up and attempt to return him to his pack. What happens when she meets them is just wonderful to read and you really feel emotional when you just look at the pictures. In turn something later happens where the girl gets stuck in the blizzard. I don't want to reveal the whole ending, I think it has a real impact to see the images, but it's a beautiful and interesting story of a sort of friendship and cautious care between the humans and the wolves. The illustrations seem simple when you first look at them, but wow do they tell the story so well! The expressions and emotions of the cub, the girl and the wolves is clearly seen and I love how amazing a lot of the pictures of the wolves are. They are so well drawn and the real danger of wolves can be seen from the first images of them. In the images towards the end of the story you really see the face expressions of the girl and others and it's amazing how well this story is told through the pictures alone. There is never a moment you wonder what is happening and I can't believe how my heart felt tense at the moment the girl met the wolf! There's something so brilliant about the illustrations and I don't often feel such an emotional tug from such simple illustrations as I did here. The story has a lovely ending and I like the way the wolves are represented throughout as still being dangerous creatures that deserve respect and distance. After reading the author's notes at the front I can also see that he did have some knowledge of wolf behaviour before creating this book which I think might add to why they both look so well drawn and are portrayed in such a realistic and yet lovely way. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves a picture book. There are no words so anyone of any age can look at the images and I'm sure many adults will appreciate this lovely book as much as children.-Thanks to Andersen Press (and Walker Books) for a free copy for review.

Excellent book
It’s very rare to come across a book with barely any text, just relying solely on the illustrations to tell the story, and the illustrator being clever enough to convey everything that’s going on so the reader doesn’t have to do much work in guessing, and actually succeed in that aim, but this book does exactly that. This author/illustrator is genius. at the turn of the page we were all going “oh no!,” or “ooooh” or “awwww”, Honestly, the simple illustrations capture everything. The story is simple, but filled with fraught anticipation and then relief. I can’t rate it highly enough. And remember, one good deed is always rewarded.Thank you to Walker books for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
