Cholla Wood is a fantastic and natural way to lower and buffer pH. This is the only kind of driftwood used by Aquatic Arts for all of our low-pH tanks, including some of our dwarf shrimp tanks. The pieces of driftwood add a natural beauty to any aquarium in which they are placed, and dwarf shrimp particularly love to graze for biofilm on the surfaces of the wood. The wood has already been cleaned and cured, and is ready for aquarium use with no preparation. If you want to avoid excess tannins in the water, you can also boil it before use. The wood pieces may take up to one to two days to sink to the bottom of your tank.

My pleco loves it!
Four perfectly sized pieces showed up in good time. I bought the cholla for my Pleco in my fancy finned goldfish tank. I scrubbed them all with a clean brush, soaked in chlorinated water for 5-6 days, then in non chlorinated water for several days, scrubbed again, boiled for 2 hours and then soaked overnight in filtered water. You have to do that to remove all of the tannins and any organisms. They did arrive VERY carefully packaged and clean. Finally they were ready. I threw in one piece and then decided all four would look good and stacked them a bit. The Pleco LOVES them. He instantly attached himself to them and the goldfish are having fun pushing them around and ruining my “architecture” lol. I’ll definitely order again from this seller when I’m ready for more!
