Review: Useful for Lay People As Well As Prospective CNAs - As a 76 old person I see a lot of doctors and therefore a lot of Certified Nurse Assistants. Based on my experience I thought their tasks were pretty much limited to taking weight, BP, pulse and asking some rudimentary questions before the doctor arrived. But this book opened my eyes to all tasks they can take on in a multitude of settings. And how hard the job can be and how hard they have to prepare based on the minimum of 120 hours of training they need just to get the right to take the tests necessary to become certified. The book also helped me in two other ways. It provided an excellent review of all the body’s systems and how they performed their various asks and it emphasized the necessity of minimizing the chance of infections - even for healthy people living at home. Rudimentary tasks such as clean sheets, clean nails and regular handwashing can prevent infections. Intuitively I knew this but the importance this book gave to those measures makes it much more likely that I will take them more seriously. So for me this book was a big plus.
