Exactly the right tool for the job.
This was exactly what I needed to install my own large grommets on my home-made deck curtains. Finding large metal grommets was not terribly easy and I am very glad the company I bought them from, Lushes Curtains, was so thorough on their descriptions for the grommets and stated that this tool would be needed. It saved me at least 3-4 days as I would have ordered the grommets then discovered I needed a tool at which time I would have tried to find one locally and probably failed and then would have ordered the tool from them anyway. This tool is machined for the exact size of grommet so it isn't something pretending to be something it isn't. The only other tool you need to install these grommets is a metal mallet (a hammer might work but a mallet is definitely the right tool for the job). I had never installed grommets before and I only 'messed up' (and they are still doing the job, they just don't quite look right if you really examine them) a couple of the 50 grommets I installed myself. The only other advice or tip I would share with anyone embarking on this adventure is that the hole puncher won't work on the thick Sunbrella fabric I used to make my curtains so I ended up cutting all the circles with scissors but I wouldn't say this is a 'problem' with the tool, just an exception in my case.Drapery Curtain Grommet #12 Hand Setter & Hole Punch/Press Complete Tool Kit 1-9/16 inch Die Cutter w/Acrylic Mat, Drape Eyelet InstallationDrapery Curtain Grommet #12 Hand Setter & Hole Punch/Press Complete Tool Kit 1-9/16 inch Die Cutter w/Acrylic Mat, Drape Eyelet Installation

Fabric hole cutter won’t cut fabric.
This product is sold as a way to cut holes for curtain grommets. When I received it I tested to see how well it worked I was quickly disappointed. It would not even cut through two layers of fabric. There was also a nick on one side of the die cutter which would have caused issues if it had actually cut the fabric. Since I needed if for an immediate project and now have to use scissors to cut 200 holes I decided to return it. I filed a return claim form over a week ago and have yet to hear from the seller. Luckily Amazon gave me a refund however I still haven’t heard from the seller on how to return the product. If you are considering this product to cut holes for curtain grommets I would keep looking as this one one get the job done.

A sanity saver! AND it works great
So...I like to custom make my curtains. I like the 'casualness' of the grommet curtains, but STRUGGLE with finding someone in my area that will allow me to use their industrial type machine (even for a fee). I use bark cloth for a tropical look and line them for that extra durability. So to end the frustration and constant search...I tried this product. OMG it worked BEAUTIFULLY!. I took the other customers advice and did not rely on the "cutting' function to make the holes. I cut out my own. Just a couple of wacks of with a mallet (I think i did 6 each ring) - and BAM - done. LOVE IT. I can now use this when ever I want and don' t have to worry about not being able to find someone to assist me. One comment that i say a couple of times in previous posts...they said it was "heavy" While it does have some weight to it - it is by far very easy to handle. I am SO glad i purchased this product!

Exactly The Tool I Needed
I made beautiful curtains out of thick material. When I tried to add the grommets, I realized my fabric was too thick for the plastic grommets. After a few minutes of panicking, I Googled...I found metal grommets online and this tools to install the metal grommets. It worked beautifully. Minus one star because the cutting tool was not as sharp as I hoped. I had to bang with a mallet several times (hint: use a piece of waste wood) and then twist & twist to cut the thick fabric. For the grommets, it took 10-12 whacks from the mallet to bend the metal - but it worked, and I'm very happy with the result!

Probably best to buy grommets with the tool
It did not work with the grommets I ordered even though they were the correct size.

You need to be strong!
You definitely have to be stronger than me to be able to use this. I had help and was able to get the project done. One suggestion: Don't use the pad that they provide. We found it worked better if you used a wooden board that the cut could go into...it made a cleaner, easier cut.
