Nice water feature
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I was looking for a while for one of these that was a bit bigger than most that are available and this one fit the bill. We dug a hole about 1' deep in the yard, lined the bottom with a bit of sand for cushioning, and installed a liner held down by some left over paver rocks I had on hand. Set up the Shishi Odoshi by setting in on a leveled area of ground over the liner rim and held it in place with one of the edging rocks. I removed the bamboo striker since it interfered with the rock holding the unit in place and used a rock instead (which I believe is the more traditional striker anyway.) The pond is about 4'X6' and it contains the splashing well so no water is lost. (One review said that a 3' radius is adequate and I think that's about right unless you have it dump into gravel to minimize the splashing.) The whole job, from pulling out the shovels to plugging in the unit took my wife and I about 4 hours total. It makes a nice knock, enough to hear but not enough to cause the neighbors to go nuts. ;^) We like it and would recommend it if you want one of these "deer chasers". (And I hope it lives up to its name 'cause we have a deer infestation in my neighborhood -- but if it doesn't, it's still cool!)The Pump that came with this one is rated at 130 gal/hr, which is bigger than was listed on the spec sheet -- maybe they upgraded from previous models. That said, it's adjustable and I have it throttled down to about half speed. I'd like a longer hose since the included hose is too short for the pump to rest on the bottom of the pond. But I'll just get an extension next time i'm at the hardware store.UPDATE: This product worked great for the first Summer. But when I stored it away for the winter, the bamboo dried out and cracked. It now won't hold water. I don't think this is a problem with the product, per se, but merely the nature of wood -- soak it and then let it dry out, and it'll crack as it shrinks. I'm gonna try to come up with a way to line the bamboo rocker section and see if I can resurrect this thing 'cause I really like it.Well, I tried coating the inside of the bamboo with silicone, but no dice. Still leaked. So I went last summer without. But the neighbors complained so much that they missed the knocking that I'm buying a replacement. I assume it'll only last the year, but heck, most folks spend more that this on annual flowers for the yard. IMHO, this is worth the annual expense.

Looks great at first, doesn't last long...
I bought it 2 years ago. Loved the look right when I put it in. Not long after, the color started fading. In addition, after the first year it started cracking, and now it's cracking even more. Not sure how much longer it will last.

Brand New!!
The sellers site says the product is new or used-very good. My product looks new. All parts came as described and art arrived much earlier than expected.1) Product is about $20.00 less than other sellers are offering and the product is new.2) You may need to add more hose is your basin is more than 2' away.3) BEFORE PLACING FOUNTAIN: Drill a small hole at the base of each leg and through the peg on the base. Slide a cotter pin through to lock fountain to base. Here's the issue: Each time the bamboo returns to the fill position, it bangs on the short piece of bamboo. This is what is it supposed to do. But when it strikes the back part of the bamboo, it lifts the front part of the tipping assembly off the pegs on the base. When this happens, the filler tube goes off center and water can over flow the cup while filling and dribbles down the back. Plus the tipping assembly goes crooked.4) Add a small rubber grommet to the axis of the tipping mechanism to keep the filler tube centered over the receiver. If it slips, again, water starts to hit the side of the tipping mechanism and dribbles down the back.Outside of that, I am really pleased with the product. The fixes are easy and it works as promised.

Twice is nice!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This is our second bamboo fountain. Our son had given us a much smaller one about 6 years ago as a “deer scarer”. The deer still eat my jasmine and whatever else they’ve a mind to but we fell in love with the look and sound of this item. Florida sun and elements took a toll on the first one so we bought this larger model. My husband did struggle a bit to fit some of the pieces together but after putting some Vaseline on things worked out. There is also a (decorative?) copper looped wire over the large bamboo piece. We read that some people had problems with the wood splitting. Maybe this is a fix? Or like I wrote earlier, just decorative. Anyway we are happy with the purchase at this point!
