Following the success of our previous Boris Midney packages, namely Beautiful Bend/Caress, Companion/Double Discovery, U.S.A. European Connection and Festival/Boris Midney we’re delighted to now issue the final Boris Midney package – Masquerade/Boris Midney. • Once again we’ve managed to access all the ingredients from the original album, namely the Prelude version of the Masquerade “Pinocchio” LP which also includes the much in-demand Francois Kevorkian promo-only Re- Edits of the entire album! • On top of this, we’ve paired this gem with the rare Boris Midney solo album “Black Russian” which was previously unreleased until it was finally issued on a small label some 15 years ago, now long since deleted. • Sleeve notes are once again provided by Disco Recharge stalwart, Alan Jones, co-author of “Saturday Night Forever” and everything has been re-mastered with the usual love and devotion. Masquerade/Boris Midney is the perfect way to complete the entire Disco Recharge Boris Midney collection!

... one to seven on disc one separated rather than like a medley but otherwise very pleasant listening
I would have preferred tracks one to seven on disc one separated rather than like a medley but otherwise very pleasant listening, somewhat fast and witty in fact just ideal for the Eurovision song contest. I'm sure a few of these hits could win first prize! Boris Midney's "Black Russian" hits are good too especially tracks one and four although Boris has done other hits which sound superb.

self indulgent disco dross
The first album- which can be easily described as "Pinnochio goes disco" is indeed as horrendous as it suggests. A self indulgent overblown disco "musical" that is verging on disco parody. Only "Emperor's New Disco Clothes" could trump it. The 2nd disc plumbs even deeper depths. It was never released and appears here for the first time and should be avoided at all costs. Dross like this killed Disco

The pits!
Oh my my, Disco Recharge please stop reissuing just about anything that Boris Midney produced!Yes he did some very good albums but the last ones you chose to reissue are just so bad that should have been left forgotten.Particularly I am referring to Pinocchio. The perfect example of how Disco became probably hated by many. Just take ANY subject and turn it into a disco album. Not a good idea. This is the classic simple, bad, elementary music coupled with the "classic" female voices screeching whatever silly "lyric" was thought of. You put down a bunch of words related to the subject and ask the vocalists to sing them. The disco album of Evita was already bad IMO, but this certainly surpassed that. Can I give it zero stars please? Don't waste your money on this one. I trust Disco Recharge and buy all their reissues but I am going to have to now spend some time and youtube the next planned releases to ensure I'm not spending more money for this kind of garbage. Yes, garbage. Why are you hell-bent on reissuing everything by Boris Midney? If it's no good, it's no good, no point in resurrecting it. There are a lot more project deserving a reissue treatment.

Muppet on a String
Black Russian was so bad they didn`t even bother doing any remixes , but Masquerade is quite good if you forget the spurious "Pinocchio" storyline . It`s good to get the Francois Kevorkian edits .

One of the best albums from Midney, Pinochio is just amazing, the sound quality is amazing.
