Good Intentions
This is a decent output from Tommy and Chris, although it does fall short at times. My concern is why Reese Wynans is ONLY a guest on a few tracks, considering he was a member of Double Trouble, and not a hired hand.We DO get Jimmie Vaughan and Lou Ann Barton though, and a cracking cover of Zeps 'Rock and Roll'.I don't think Stevie would have recorded most of these tracks if he'd lived, they are sub-standard in comparison to his catalogue, BUT the release is still welcome to fans of Double Trouble. A nice dedication to Stevie inside as well goes a long way.Overall, I liked it, and I hope it gives Tommy and Chris some closure.Oh, not too sure why Tommy is wearing SRVs Maori Fish Hook neck charm on the cover either.

Great Album from the former SRV bassist and drummer...
Double Trouble aka Tommy Shannon (bassist) and Chris Layton (drums) have released their first album as Double Trouble. Double Trouble were the legendary rythmn section of the band lead by the late great Stevie Ray Vaughan. This album "Been a long time" is a great blues/rock album featuring many big names from the world of blues/rock/R'n'B... Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jimmie Vaughan, Doyle Bramhall II, Jonny Lang, Eric Johnson, Dr John and many more.So what are the songs like? There are 10 in total, plus a hidden track of SRV and Double Trouble, all be it only 30 secs long but still good stuff.Of the 10 songs 5 are written by either Tommy Shannon and or Chris Layton. The others are covers. The highlights are..."Cry Sky" - A wonderful laid back song. "Rock n Roll" - Great version of the Led Zepplin hit. "In the middle of the night" - Jimmie Vaughan's guitar is stinging! "Groundhog Day" - Up beat blues/rocker. A real foot tapper! In fact there is not one song that I do not like. A good mixture of laid back and up tempo songs. I think this CD is a great addition to your blues/rock collection and if you are a fan of SRV and Double Trouble then this is a must anyway!

Double Trouble Sans Stevie Ray
This album was dedicated to Stevie Ray Vaughan and it is easy to imagine Stevie Ray playing it. If you liked Stevie Ray, buy this. If you didn't like Stevie Ray - you probably don't appreciate music anyway! It's not all pure blues, although there is an abundance of blistering guitar playing. There are guest artists and some of the songs are covers (including Led Zep)but each track is a gem. My favourite is the first track a soulful ballad by Chris Layton called Cry Sky. Enjoy!
