Brilliant comedy from the golden age of British cinema.
A lot of modern comedy writers and film makers would learn how to with this film. Tons of laughs, great gags..and stunts. Sellers was sublime before he went to Hollywood. Caribbean early in his career...Hyde White, what a great actor. Jeffries too. What an age! Got a few more b&w to enjoy yet too.

Two Way Stretch - You'll laugh all the way !
Peter Sellers at his very best in this caper involving a cast of characters that carry this film all the way to the end. Not a boring moment in this film. Well paced and story line very entertaining.Once again, this film shows how great British comedies were leading the way for good old light entertainment for film goers back in the 1960's.Well written script, well directed and off course heavy duty cast of actors make this a must watch film.Great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.!

classic sellers
this is a film that must have prompted Clement + La franais to write Porridge, brilliant concept, altogether farsical, great british humour, delivered with superb comedy genius from Sellers

still funny, even after nearly 6o years
I first watched this film back in 1970 when I was a child. I thought it was really funny and at the time thought the quarry explosion sequence was really hilarious. I christened my cat 'strangeways' after the prison cat in this film as it appeared on tv again in 1988. I believe this film was the inspiration for the comedy series 'porridge' . this is one of peter sellers best films even if the humour is somewhat dated now and I love to see all the old lorries and cars again. I love it. this one is definitely not going to the charity shop after e few viewings

CLASSIC PETER SELLERS
Yet another British comedy gem from the early 60's, starring Peter Sellers. While serving a prison sentence, Dodger, played by Sellers, hatches a plan for the perfect robbery: To break out of prison, and steal a fortune in diamonds, and then break back in. Aided by his two cohorts, played by Bernard Cribbins and David Lodge, they set about planning their 'perfect' robbery, aided on the 'outside' by Soapy Stevens, played by Wilfred Hyde-White.Initially on DVD, then deleted for years, this is now available again. If you are into these classic comedy films from the 50's and 60's, or you are a Peter Sellers fan, you are in for a treat. You simply cannot afford to miss this one.Buy it while it's still available.Picture Quality is good, and the transfer is in it's original aspect ratio of 1.66:1.Pure magic, highly recommended.
