Easy replacement. Made my Navigator run better than new. $600 to replace or $75 to upgrade… no brainer!

I've rebuilt my 9-year old Hayward Navigator several times, all the way down to replacing the geared 'motor' thing inside on one occasion. This time around, replacing the feet, flippers and wings didn't help; Otto sucked water, but he wouldn't actually cruise. Disclaimer: For about 3 years, we have had the Pentair Intelliflo variable speed pool pump and it runs at a VERY low speed through its entire day (because it filters the water just fine, and lower suction means less wear and tear on the auto sweep). But recently, Otto had lost his will to travel, and seeing him just sitting dejectedly at the bottom of the pool with no desire to wander around was kind of heartbreaking. While watching a great YouTube pool care video series, I learned about this spiffy upgrade kit, and since I was on the verge of spending $450 on a new pool vacuum, I figured one last try at reviving my beloved Otto would be worth $80, so I went for it. Took about 15 minutes to do the upgrade (fairly easy, just PAY ATTENTION when you're taking the old parts out so you understand what you're doing when you put the new parts in; the instructions are just pictures, and not 100% intuitive). And now, Otto is zipping around like a booze-fueled teenager on spring break. Still doesn't break any speed records (the pump is still running on that super low speed) but I'm definitely thrilled to have dear Otto back, just like the good old days. Definitely recommend this upgrade for your Hayward Navigator.

My Navigator is 20+ years old. Over the years, I've replaced various parts to keep it going. However, it would tend to get stuck if there were too many leaves on the bottom of the pool. While not a panacea, this upgrade goes a long way to fixing that problem. It still occasionally gets stuck, but not nearly as often.

It revived by Navigator, and she is back moving around the pool again. We have palm trees that drop lots of stuff in the pool from long to short and would routinely jam the old fixed vane turbine. Hoping this helps with that, but it's definitely an upgrade from the old turbine and related parts. Wasnt much more than the cost for the standard parts but may be more durable. Time will tell. If you have to rebuild your turbine, try this kit instead of the standard. So far I'm pleased with the upgrade.

You get most of the parts for a complete rebuild, minus the pods, for your pool cleaner for a lot less money than purchasing the individual parts from a pool-supply retailer. The shipment came a day earlier than the original estimate, another plus. In other words, quality parts for less money and speedy service. What’s not to like?

Can't really say how much better this upgrade is over the standard design especially for the money.

They price is kind of high for what you get.
