Love this band, and this is up there with the best EMO hardcore.

A hardcore-punk concept album that takes you on one person's journey through a world that doesn't care. Unwanted from birth he slips, falls and fails. The music is captivating and the lyrics are so dark and heart felt that you can't help but fall in with the journey. Not that I'd call it necessarily gloomy it feels more bitter, about the strength that comes through survival. The tempo keeps up throughout and is linked with the progress of the story - you can hear the torn emotion and grit in his voice - for anyone familiar with Modern Life is War, Carrier or Ruiner you'll know what to expect, though imo Defeater stabs a little deeper into reality and an undercurrent of underclass resentment. Highly recommended.

Musically, probably my least favorite Defeater album. But it gives a good background of the story detailed in the rest of their music. Plus, just because it's my least favorite Defeater album, doesn't mean it's not a good album. It's still a great album that's worth the listen.

This is my favorite Defeater record, I'm glad that I finally own it on vinyl. I do wish that Amazon presented the buyer with the pressing information, at time of purchase it was a fifth press on Red/black swirl vinyl /1000

I have to say, Defeater is one of my favorite bands. I love "Lost Ground" and "Empty Days and Sleepless Nights"."Travels" is great. Especially as one of the band's earlier records.
