Koldfront WTC12002WCO115V 12,000 BTU 115V Through the Wall Air Conditioner - Cool Only

I knew I needed a replacement AC big time. The former old work horse of a machine was worn out and more than done. I did quite a bit of research on line and here at Amazon before choosing this Koldfront 12,000 BTU for the main floor of my 2-story home. Did see some concerns about damage in shipping but I live in a sparsely populated rural area and choices for AC units locally were unacceptable for my needs. So I held my breath and ordered this wall model. I also ordered Koldfront's sleeve to make sure it would be a good fit.When both packages arrived, i was concerned about the condition of the box for the sleeve. Two edge seams of the cardboard box had completely torn open and the walls of the sleeve were exposed. However, the interior packaging was intact and did a good job of protecting the metal walls. Not even a scratch. Whew. There were some smushed corners of the AC's box but it was also undamaged. Maybe Koldfront got the message that they needed to up their packaging game since whoever's hauling these things around is more than a little careless.I have a retired contractor friend who installed for me and we came up with a good solution. I wasn't crazy about putting a hole in the wall of my Minnesota home because the harsh winter makes any chance for air leakage a real problem. My friend's solution was to install the AC's sleeve into the lower third of window where the old AC had been. The former window was shot, so a new smaller one went in above the new AC. Man, it looks great. No more twice yearly drama with hauling that old beast of an AC in and out of that beat up window. AND my contractor buddy was especially pleased that it's 115V so all we had to do was plug it into the nearby outlet. Sweet!But the best part of this upgrade is that this Koldfront AC is a real champ. I was worried about the reviews that say this unit is loud, but it's far from it. My work desk is right next to that window and the noise is far less that the previous AC I had. In fact, yesterday I had to do a webinar presentation from home and during the set up/practice with the IT team, I asked if they could hear my new AC when it came on (didn't want it to be a distraction but also didn't want to have to shut it off on a 90+ degree day). They couldn't hear it at all!So yes, I may only be a week into this new unit's performance but I have zero complaints and good reasons to sing its praises. It's so nice to have some of the great features new units have, like the remote, digital temp setting and energy efficiency. So far it's been a warmer than usual summer and there's more 90+ days in the weekend forecast so I am mighty glad I have this Koldfront installed and ready to meet the challenge.If things change with its performance, I'll refresh this review but for now it looks like the research paid off!

I removed the old air conditioner and installed the replacement myself….. no problems !

Happy with it, cools a decent sized room. Happy to find a 12,000 BTU that can work my 110 volt outlet. One problem is that it's a tad loud, but still okay. Another problem is that for some reason every time you turn it on it goes to energy saver by default which isn't good. Shouldn't it remember how I left it off before it shut off?Also another negative is that I cannot face the vents downwards, it only goes straight or up.But overall I am happy with it, it's a good piece and I hope it lasts awhile.

The remote control is horrible. The text is tiny font, black on grey, very hard to read.Why have a cheap remote for a very expensive air conditioner?

I got this ac to replace a very old unit that was in our home before we bought the house. This unit works great. It is not too loud and cools off our living room/dining room/kitchen. Has a remote and several settings including auto, energy efficient, sleep timer etc. I've had it for almost two months and so far am very happy with it.

Were do I begin the A/C unit was delivers by UPS way before the due date actually 3 days after I put in the order. By far the best installation package that came with it plenty of foam sealant strips and spacer wedges and tilting wedges also a shiny new aluminum grill plate installation was a breeze using my slightly oversized wall box even though it's not in all the way after putting the cover frame plate it looks awesome fully insulated and works great the noise is minimal hardly noticeable I have it on auto pilot all day 24/7 and it keeps my living beginning area plus kitchen and hall way cool all day 84° outside cool 71° inside turns off automatically and temp reaches the set temp of 71° and off for for 15 to 25 minutes before tuning itself back on gradually. I haven't heard the compressor kick in I have had it for a week and loving it 100%+ satisfied let's see how long it will last. Oh and for the cost of was also the best bang for my wallet.

This is an awesome unit fir the price folks. I was pleased it came a day early. The thing is a monster, I was able to get the unit into the sleeve at shoulder height yet strongly recommend getting an extra hand. The unit came with a bezel that fit my sleeve nicely, a grille, adhesive foam seals and even bracing for inside the sleeve. I may go back later to put some of that material in as the unit can be a bit loud. But all said, the unit does the job. My apartment is two bedroom around 735 square foot and it will cool off in under a hour. Now mind you it's barely 80 out so we will see. But all in all if you have a large space i recommend this unit.

The Koldfront A/C unit works well, though a bit louder than I would like. Tolerable at best. The remote didn't work at all. Upon further examination I found the battery to be dead. Replaced the battery and it too works as described.There are two more things. The vents were disconnected, I needed to remove the vent system and reconnect the slider portion (just clipped into place) and reinstall it. Also, the temperature which one sets the A/C to is not correct. I have a digital thermometer and a mechanical one, and when I am running the unit to the point of it automatically shutting off, the temperature displayed by the A/C unit is roughly 5F cooler than the temperatures displayed by my own thermometers which are only 5 feet away. This makes me rethink to what temperature I want the unit set to.
