Superb!
I bought this amplifier to replace an expensive older system that was begining to have problems. I was expecting the Tamgent Ampster to perhaps be a bit of a compromise due to the low price tag, but I am very impressed with it. Firstly, it's got a very solid feel all around, but is still very compact and fits nicely wherever you put it- looking modern and descreet at the same time. The antenna can lie horizontal behind the unit if you wish. The bluetooth works great with my phone and laptop with superb range. I have my TV connected with the optical input and a turntable with one of the normal aux line-in sockets. Sound-wise, again I cannot fault. It drives my two large floor standing speakers no problem whatsover with plenty of volume and bass but there is also a subwoofer line out if you want more. This amp is exactly what I was looking for. Small, functional and great sound quality with a combination of the modern bluetooth ability and standard connections. The remote is very small and lightweight. It works great but fills a bit cheap. Its a very small price to pay for such a great bit of kit overall.

Very clever little product, perfect for my purposes
I spent weeks researching what entry-level amplifier to purchase to base a new stereo system around. I was contemplating either the Marantz PM6006 or the famous Onkyo A-9010. When I looked at the dimensions of those two amplifiers I noticed that they were far too big for my purposes, and lacked any Bluetooth capability. Shifting my attention to smaller but more integrated systems like the Naim Unitqute 2 I noticed a review for the £300 Tangent system which features the Ampster and accompanying X4 speakers. Reading various reports that this amplifier suited the much-loved Q Acoustics bookshelf speakers more than the supplied X4s, I found that Q Acoustics are selling off their stock of the 2020i model (perennial award-winners ~5 years ago) for £129/pair on their website. I bought the Ampster on its own for £145 (10 times cheaper than the Naim system I fancied) plus the 2020i speakers for £129. I now have an immaculate sounding stereo which has replaced my soundbar as a modest home theatre and has outclassed my Bose Soundlink II for Bluetooth listening at home, and all for well under £300. Listening to Spotify or internet radio via Bluetooth is much cleaner/clearer/richer than the Bose, though I must keep my devices within a fairly modest range. All television and film audio sounds clear, well-balanced and with a respectable, but not over-powering, amount of bass. This is a perfect set-up for my modest-sized living room, and even my wife is pleased by its low-key aesthetic and impressive audio detail. I look forward to buying a turntable and phono stage to plug into this set-up... once I find space for them.

Bought this to specifically connect to my Echo dot. ...
Bought this to specifically connect to my Echo dot. Ask the dot to search for speaker (after already bluetooth pairing) and the amp automatically comes out of standby. All audio from the dot is then played through speakers. A neat package with plenty of connection options.

Great sound, but Bluetooth chip has died
Bought this to power a pair of floorstanding speakers in the kitchen. Primary sound sources are either my/missus/kids/mates' phones, or an Amazon Echo Dot. Sound quality has been very good, as described by other reviewers. Could have done with a smidge more power when cook-ups / hangouts start getting loud and dance-y, but for its size, it does an excellent job.BUT, after about 18 months the bluetooth chip died :-( so now we can only use it with the Echo Dot. Sure, the Dot has its own BT connection, but it's not as convenient as the Ampster's connection was, so disappointing.Tangent folks, if you're reading this and provide a fix, please get in touch...

Careful what speakers you want this for
I’m sure it’s a great amp but it lacks connection facilities with no line out rca points and only one set of rca line points. Sadly for me it was a waste of money. I either miss understood or was missled when I read it could be used with tangent spectrum 5x speakers. It can’t.

Proper Hi-fi - Class D is the new Class A
I wanted a smaller lounge friendly system. I was using a Opera Consonance A120 hybrid which is valve and solid state. This was much smaller but would be an interim solution. It was an interim solution but only because it was so good I changed my thinking. Absolutely stunned by the sound and low level late evening listening was a joy. I gave it to my son for his first proper hi-fi component.Built really well. A lovely little device and Bluetooth and Digital inputs were great. Bass control really surprised me. Extended and controlled. Sweet top end no mushiness to complex classical pieces while acoustic tracks were intimate and nuanced. Could listen to it all day. Source was a Bluesound Node 2 and it did all the digital stuff so just needed an amp and bought the even tinier Bantam Gold.

Excellent little amp
Excellent little amp. We have ours driving 6 4ohm ceiling speakers and two q acoustics shelf speakers ( via impedance switch ) with an amazon echo dot as input via bluetooth. The bluetooth standby mode is really good feature and works great. Not used any of the other inputs but good choice. The power/sound is plenty for us. Our previous sony amp was more powerfull 2x100W but the trade off is size and connectivity. Very well built and looks/feel good quality. The remote is nice touch. Small and light. Easy to lose down the back of the couch!!Overall highly recommend.

Piccolo ampli, grande suono!!!
