Enid Blyton Secret Seven Complete Collection Paperback – January 1, 2012

My 7 year old devoured the books. I could see him reading these with the same intensity that i did some 3 decades back!. Absolutely fabulous!!

Great children's series. Cannot be found in general bookstores in the US. Read these as a child and now my kids are enjoying reading them.

Read these as a kid. Love the stories so my kids can enjoy them as well but quality of the paper its printed on could have been better.

They were the catalyst which encouraged me to start reading more than 50 years ago. Thank you, Enid.The BBC, many public libraries, local authorities and alleged educational experts have been completely wrong about the worth of the Blyton works. I can remember having substantial difficulty obtaining the original versions of the books. Quite a few shops would not stock them then but they were wonderful stories for teenagers! The tales are great to read for their simplicity and straightforwardness.When one did find copies of the book they were quite expensive all those years ago but great to own. I loved the physical appearance of the books as well which I treasured as a youngster with the way in which the books were produced then making them somehow much easier to read.It’s a delight to read these stories of adventure again in middle age although recent editing has diminished some of the memories I have of the original editions and words used then (but I am now getting old).Never mind… these books remain one of my best friends for life: they began my own reading adventure so do read these special adventures of the Secret Seven Society for yourselves.

The books are great, but my set has book number 9 missing and 2 copies of book 11 instead

J'ai acheté cette série avec la ferme intention d'apprendre l'anglais. Certes ce sont des livres pour enfants mais quel plaisir de constater que peu à peu j'ai délaissé le dictionnaire et ne l'ai consulté que pour des mots tout à fait nouveaux. J'ai fait de beaux progrès et j'ai presque fini la série (il ne m'en reste plus que 2 à lire). Auparavant j'avais commencé par me plonger dans la littérature anglaise et américaine mais je ne m'en sortais pas : l'usage du dictionnaire était incessant, je retenais peu de choses : j'ai donc abandonné. Je me suis dit que seuls des livres simples au vocabulaire de base destinés aux enfants pourraient m'aider à consolider mon anglais. C'est efficace et je suis ravie. Je vais poursuivre dans cette voie avec quelques séries enfantines encore, puis, je passerai à une ou deux séries pour adolescents et je pense que le tour sera joué. Dès lors je pourrai m'attaquer à la littérature et le plaisir sera complet.Je vous ai fait part de mon expérience, alors si vous souhaitez vous mettre à l'anglais ou à une toute autre langue : n'hésitez pas à lire des choses simples qui consolident les bases même si ce sont des livres pour enfants. Il n'y a pas de honte à cela, bien au contraire. Le plaisir que j'en ai tiré ne se situe pas dans la découverte de l'histoire (comme le ressentirait un enfant) mais dans le fait que j'ai pu lire et comprendre avec précision l'histoire dans une langue étrangère de bout en bout.

Great set and good value for money. My kid's devoured them. They will make great childhood memories.

Great classic set, we have read it through twice and passed it on to younger family.

My children are enjoying these stories so much and they easily are at the top of the favourites pile! My son is already more than halfway through the series and he said that he thinks they are great for bedtime reading.Children love these timeless classics and mothers who like reading to their children will love them too =)
