I'm updating my 2 star review to 4 stars.After what I though was both units not working, it had passed the return window, and weather was not ideal, so I just left them mounted outside. Suddenly to my surprise one day, the inside alarm sounded. Over the next few weeks I discovered they were both working. From then on, each worked just fine well past a year, and I decided to replace the batteries in both outside sending units as I didn't want corroded batteries to destroy these. Surely I thought I'll have to go through the re-sync thing again, but much to my surprise, no. Both have been working fine ever since, and due to where I've placed one unit, I've discovered it's a frequent and favorite path of our local squirrel population.As mentioned below, looking for customer service, I never did hear from them though. So that's worth one less star.--- Original Review Below ---I purchased two of these. I got one installed quickly, and sure enough as other reviewers mentioned, after the first rain and it stopped. I didn't know it wasn't working of course, until I wondered why it wasn't going off like before. I tested it, and sure enough it wasn't working. I replaced the batteries, did the re-sync, nothing.I was going to put the second unit in another, optional location, but since I really need one in that particular spot, I installed the second in the same location. The same thing happened. The second one seemed to have issues right from the beginning. I had to re-sync the device before it would work. It worked for a few minutes, then quit. I did the re-sync again and honestly it was intermittent, I could never really trust that it was working properly. If I would stand in front of it and wave my hands, it may or may not trigger the inside unit. Then, once the next rain storm came, it wouldn't work at all. New batteries, re-sync, nothing got the second one working. Again, it might not have had anything to do with the rain, it could have just failed.It may not have been the rain, but it's odd I have two that failed about the same time as it rained.Let's see how good the warranty, and customer support is.I'll update the review, if and when I hear from the company / vendor.

Detects people just fine. Will not reliably detect cars. I have mine mounted 3 feet above the ground and 1 foot away from the edge of my driveway and it will not detect a car. Now you can adjust the sensitivity by opening up the shutter in front of the motion sensor, but then you get constant false alarms and it still misses most cars.After more fiddling with the detectors shutters I now have them positioned where they pick up people and cars! Shutters are approximately 1" open and both shutters are pulled to the units left side. Working good now!

This unit is very easy to set up and use. It has a audible alarm as well as a flashing LED to notify you that the beam has been broken. You can turn the audible alarm off and just use the flashing LED if you are close to the inside unit.The only thing that I had a bit of a problem with was the adjustment of the shutter on the outside unit- it was a difficult to get the shutter (which controls the width of the beam) adjusted to cover the desired detection spot.

Works great. Only gripe is windy and rainy days set it off. Thankfully, I live in the desert! Lol

Works good.. however plastic on outside monitor is fragile.. be careful.

An initial test of this product did not fail my expectations. A very simple device to notify you of motion in the viewer. Not for complicated setups but sufficient to let you know you have motion.

Worked well when I tested it inside my home. Then I moved it to the uncovered porch, where it rained, since I live in Oregon. It quickly shorted out. Do not buy this product if you intend to use it outdoors. It will fail quickly and just beep constantly

lets just say . not very water proof .
