Old Timey Isn't Enough
I recieved a 2 oz bottle of Watkins Liniment with hopes of it being both natural and reasonably effective... like an old timey Ben Gay in liquid form. While I understand this product is liquid and probably wouldn't have the impact of a cream, the Watkins Liniment had no impact. I could have fared as well rubbing a little Vics in. No....Vics would have been more useful. This product is not what it pretends to be. I've rarely connected 'Old Timey' with 'ineffective', until now. Couple the lack of effect (it didn't even feel warm, and certainly didn't ease ordinary muscle aches) with the fact this stuff is expensive to start with. Save your money.A final note, I did contact the J. R. Watkins company with my concerns with no satisfaction. Thank goodness for Amazon's policies.

great product
I love this liniment. I broke my foot in a couple of places recently and put off going to the doctor for about a week. It didn't really swell much and didn't bruise so I figured it was fine. My dad who is in his mid 60's bought me some of this liniment and some foot soak and told me not to worry about it. I brought it home laughing at my dad and his crazy old ways, but ended up using it anyway. The liniment really really helped with the pain on the outside of my foot that was caused from trying to keep my weight off the inside of my foot (near my big toe where it was broken) and the pain from the swelling. It did not ease the sharp and specific pain near the break though, which I thought was odd and is why I went to the doctor and found out that it was in fact broken. Since then I have used it on various backaches and knee/leg pains and it's been marvelous. It's a topical pain reliever so it's not going to stop severe arthritis pain or the pain from breaks, but swelling, bruises and muscle pain, particularly after too much hiking it does wonders for. My girlfriend uses it on her back when she has spasms and now swears by it. It does have a really strong vicks-y smell though so be prepared.
