The tenacity of God's Love for us is in every page.
Bishop Barron uses literature, philosophy, theology and, of course, sacred scripture to make alive our predicament i.e. the sinful ego and the needed transformation to surrender and be made new in Christ Jesus. This book is a spiritual treasure!

Profound Yet Profoundly Lucid
Bishop Barron carefully lays out the divine blueprint for the healing and fulfillment of our innermost selves. He deftly uses literature, poetry, scripture, and ancient and modern scholars, weaving them together with his own rich insights. The lucidity of his writings is astonishing, making these deep and potentially confusing/discouraging concepts easy both to grasp and to internalize. A virtuoso performance. I canโt imagine anyone reading this with an open mind will come away unchanged.

Magna Anima
He explains very well what our current condition is, what the solution is, and how that solution comes about. I loved every page of this book. Bishop Barron is an inspired writer, thinker, and lover of God. I recommend this book for anyone that knows she/he is lost and wants to be found.

A stunningly simple book that opens the mind to endless treasures!
I have not finished this book yet, but I " fell in love with it" at the first sentence of the prologue and it just gets better. It begins with "Christianity is,above all, a way of seeing." Barron tells the story of Jesus healing the blind man by spitting on the ground to make a paste, etc. After the man was healed, he responds to skeptics with "all I know is that I was blind and now I see." The reader is reminded that the mud paste is also the mixing of the divine power and earth that results in a healing balm. This salve of God made flesh, when rubbed onto our eyes blinded by sin we come again to see.

Fr. Barron from the deep end of the pool!
Fr. Barron clearly establishes himself here as a trruly gifted theologian for the 21st century. By that I do not mean to imply he has any modernist leanings. He is simply the real deal in a field that is not exactly overflowing with new voices. Fr. Barron is equally gifted at taking deep theological and philosophical thought and presenting it in a way that is very accessible to the man/woman on the street. Most of his DVD's show him in that mode. This is a very excellent work of theology and if you like Ratzinger/Benedict XVI then you will like this as well. While he often reflects on previously established theological thought, he does so in a way that is fresh, thought provoking and indicitive of a person who is an original thinker. Well worth the time!!

DENSE but WORTH IT!
I am currently in my second reading of this fascinating book, written by one of the most charismatic men on the planet today. I wish it were as easy to grasp as his television productions! And what does that say about our culture? About ME? Nonetheless, if you are seeking a Closer Walk, here is an excellent map by a gifted writer-cartographer!

Transforming
Fr. Barron is an amazing speaker and writer in his ability to explain his messages in a clear and interesting way. This book was excellent for anyone of any faith who wants to continue on their journey to Christ by growing in understanding of what it really means to "repent". It is a compelling read, one that will stay with me as I ponder its message over time.
