Fan Replacement for Tivo Roamio and Roamio OTA. 35mm x 10mm fan with 2 pin PH2.0-2P connector for the best choice in reduced noise. The connector is slightly different from the OEM fan but it works great. This is the fan everyone has been talking about on the forums, it has proven to be reliable and quiet, and includes the vibration dampening silicon mounts! Didn't last...but...
Quiet for 48 hours. Now, already, the noisiest device in my AV rack... I'm not a huge fan of the silicone mounts, either, but they are not the problem.Update 3/19/2018: I cut off the silicone mounts and reattached this same fan using the original screws -- actually just two of them so I didn't have to remove the motherboard. The fan is quiet again. With the silicone mounts, it seemed like the fan was a little too free to rattle around. I hope that's all it is, so upgrading to 3 stars. I will try to remember to update again regardless if the fan gets noisy again or if it remains quiet.

Fan: 1 - Silicone mount: 0
Well, after 7 months our Tivo OTA got noisy. I thought this replacement fan with the silicone mounts would be the answer. The fan itself seems to work fine. Noise level has dropped to an acceptable level. The problem I'm having is with the silicone mounts. As you pull the mount through the Tivo frame, that's no problem. But when you pull the, what I would call the "anchoring" section through the fan screw hole section, the silicone tail just snaps off. After gently, but firmly trying to get these mounts through the fan mounting openings, and having them break, I gave up and resorted to putting the screws back into the fan. Well, you can put 3 of the 4 screws back. 1 hole has the power wiring running through it.I would suggest avoiding this fan if you're drawn to the idea of having the silicone mounting system. It simply didn't work for me.UPDATE! Today is January 21, 2022 and this fan started making its' "dying" groaning sounds. I bought this in May of 2018, so it almost made it to 4 years. Not bad for the price. The question is, do I buy this fan again or look for a better (quieter, longer lasting) replacement? I will look around and see what's out there. . . .

Somewhat noisy, but works
This is a small ball-bearing fan intended to replace the fan in the Tivo Roamio OTA DVR. It has the right operating characteristics, so it works. Ball-bearing fans have great life expectancy, however, they are inherently noisier than sleeve and fluid cushion bearing fans, and this one is no exception. At full speed it whines. To help prevent this, the maker has provided silicone rubber anti-noise mounts to reduce transmission of the bearing whine to the chassis. However, the Roamio screw mounts for its original fan are too small to fit the silicone mounts into. Not wanting to have to drill the holes out larger, I instead turned three of the four original screws into the fan chassis to establish threads, then used them to mount the fan. (The 4th screw cannot be used because one difference this fan has from the original is the lead wires come out of it in a way that prevents having a usable 4th mounting hole). Fortunately, the Roamio reduces fan drive voltage when its processor is not hot, causing the whine to fade. But when it gets warm, that noise comes back. So, the bottom line is the fan works, but the provided mounting scheme is not successful so you get extra noise. The silicone mounts are a standard type used in computer chassis boxes that have the appropriately sized holes for them. I can see how to redesign them to fit, but I doubt enough of these little fans are sold to justify the seller getting the necessary mold made.

Lasted about 18 months before getting noisy again
Originally ordered this fan because our TIVO Roamio OTA started getting noisy. I did not use the silicone mounts - though at this point I don't remember why - and instead installed the fan with 3 of the 4 original screws (since one location is blocked by the wiring path). The fan was nice and quiet for about 18 months but then started making the same "jet engine racket" that prompted the original replacement. For the price, maybe that's long enough. If I could give this 3.5 stars I would. This time I purchased the weaKnees Roamio fan, which is twice as expensive. I'm glad I kept the original screws, because that replacement assumes you'll have them.

So far , so good!
This fan is 1/2 price of other leading choice. It only has three mounting holes vs. 4 from original fan, but that is okay. I did not get silicone mounts with my order, but reading prior reviewer comments seems just as well. I recommend you take the screws from old fan and pre-screw them into the new fan before installing (i.e. while it is on a table or flat surface) and then unscrew them. This will help thread the holes. Then install fan and screw to chassis. Wire is longer than OEM fan so I just tucked it away - no zip tie. Fan nice and quiet but I just installed it so hopefully it stays that way for long haul.Update 10/14/20:It has been a little over 7 months since installation and just last week fan started making loud noise. Sounds like it cycles up and then down again. I will take Tivo OTA apart and see if any dust or if a little lubrication will help. A little disappointed it didn't go longer before getting loud. We'll see...

the fan works fine, no more dry bearing noise
the fan works fine, no more dry bearing noise, they need to put a video up on how to use the silicon mounts, not obvious how to use them, I think you pull the skinny end thru the mount hole in the tivo frame, then thread the skinny end thu the fan mount holes, then pull really hard till the lip on the skinny end comes thru the fan. getting the bottom one in is near impossible, broke the end off, had to use a screw in the bottom. also the plug on the fan does not match the connector on the board, be sure you look at which side the red lead goes to on the original fan plug, on mine the red lead goes toward the hard drive.

It works; is quiet; but...
This fan works - arrived quickly; is quiet; fits my Tivo just fine; and solved my noisy fan issue. The silicon mounts included with the fan are a waste of time. I spent much more time than I should have trying to make them work until finally I just used the self-tapping screws from the old fan to install the new fan. Since the old fan used 4 screws and the new one only three, I just taped the extra screw inside the box for potential future use.The price was a little high in my opinion, but that's what apparently what we are willing to pay, so good for the seller!
