I got an electric coffee grinder as a gift, but it was plagued with inconsistent results. Where the electric grinder gave me big chunks mixed with powder, this gave even and consistent grounds. Manually grinding enough coffee to brew a pot takes about 3 minutes, but it's so worth it. Fresh ground coffee makes the freshest tasting brew. The dial on the inside helps you adjust the level or courseness you desire.

It broke within a month

Let me say that we bought this grinder for pepper, not coffee. I like the size; I was looking for a grinder that I could use for cooking and the "wrist action" style gets tiring quickly when grinding a lot of pepper into a recipe. This grinder has a nice cup at the bottom to catch the ground spice, or it can be used directly over the food. The things I don't like about it: first, the handle is not attached to the grinder in any way and it's very long. That can make it easy to store, but it has a tendency to work its way off while grinding and the length means the grinder is prone to falling or being knocked over if left "assembled" on a counter or stove. I found it difficult to regulate the coarseness of the grind and couldn't get to "very coarse" but again, this may be due to the comparison between pepper and coffee. Finally, and again possibly because pepper is a harder spice, the grinder gave up entirely after a few months of moderate usage. Now the grinding mechanism doesn't produce anything at all so I'm shopping for a replacement already.
