HOSHANHO 18PCS Kitchen Knife Block Set, Sharp Chef Knives with Sharpener

I had previously purchased the Hoshano Lan Series 7” filet knife and was impressed with its high level of quality. It had good balance, kept a sharp edge and had good flexibility as a filet knife. When I noticed the Hoshano Lan Series 5 piece knife set on sale I purchased it hoping for the same high quality. I was not disappointed. All the knives of the set have the same high quality of construction and materials. All the knives have good balance between the weight of the handle and the blade. The steel seems top quality, holding a good edge through use, but not so hard to prevent easily reestablishing a good edge with a sharpener. The included bread knife and 5” boning/utility knife are especially useful for multi purposes. As with any quality knife I wouldn’t put this set in the dishwasher, but they clean up nicely with warm soapy water. I believe this set is an excellent value at its price point. Based on the high quality of the knives I would expect the cost to be 2 or 3 times the actual cost.

Got these a few months ago and so far they seem very durable, definitely not just good looking knives, the grip feels good in your hand which makes them easier to use and the color looks great. One of them did get a small stain, but I was able to remove it. Not to high maintenance.

I wanted a good knife set but I wasn’t going to pay well over $1000 for a set it just didn’t seem reasonable to me to spend that kind of money. I read the reviews and decided to buy these. I do hand wash them dry them strait after rub a little olive oil on them and then wipe them down after use. My husband did use one and didn’t wash it right and it now has rust stains on it. So be diligent in keeping them taken care of. I love that they have a good old handle and the color. They are so so sharp so be careful. I love that I have good knives this is so important to someone who spends 75% of their time in the kitchen everyday. I do a lot of cooking, canning, dehydrating and freezing foods so these are used a lot. We even butchered 3 pigs with them and they held up really well. I am processing 4 giant pumpkins today and I’m not dreading it because these knives cut through everything like butter. I do slow down on cutting things up now because I am prone to cutting myself and I really don’t want to loose a finger. With my luck I would. Like I said these are so sharp! Seriously spend the money on these they are worth it. And take the time to take care of your knives they will always look great if you do.

Full set of knives. Overall great set. The only odd items are the following: - layout of the block is designed to have the knife handles face inwards, which makes it awkward to grab the knives - scissors are supposedly meant for cutting poultry. Yet, I'd rather have a regular pair of scissors in the knife block, but this might just be what I'm used to.

I love my knives they are very sharp and convenient!

Going on about 6-months of daily use with the chef’s knife and I still love it. That goes for all of the knives, they’re sharp, feel sturdy and light weight. The blades are susceptible to water spots or clinging to liquids. If your like me and are obsessed with detailing your own vehicles , you’ll end up cleaning and wiping these down immediately after using. I have never owned expensive or top quality knives before so I don’t know if that’s a problem or not. I see them lasting for a long time with normal care.

Got this 18 piece knife set for $198 on sale. This is a terrific value amongst other knife sets. I am happy with how sharp these knifes are. They look good and cut very well, even for being a "budget" knife set. These perform as well as a $500+ set easily. Wait for a sale and buy.

I like the set. They seem to be in good condition. I have used the utility knife several times. It was not sharp at the beginning. I used the sharpener provided in the set and I was fairly happy with the result.
