They produce a very black line. When one draws with light lines it’s easy to erase but impossible to erase once pressure is applied to get a strong line. I will use them because it’s too many of them but I think I will go back to a vine charcoal afterwards. I used it with cannon drawing and Ingres paper. Smooth round body so you don’t have to shape for broad area shading. 2 diameter rods included. 5” (13cm) rods so you can “snap” to lenght needed for specific shading patterns. Note the diameters are a little small at +\- 5mm and 7mm so they are fingertip grip for shading. Overall excellent and surprisingly perfect for me, as an amateur artist.

Seems good, but be careful which bulk pack you order. Because of the listing images, I thought I was ordering the variety pack, but instead I got 4 packs of 5-7mm. Not sending it back because that's a useful size, but just be careful.
