The definition of melancholia is a mental condition and especially a manic-depressive condition characterized by extreme depression, which was the perfect title for the fourth full length album from instrumental mathrock band, Save Us From The Archon. The record was inspired by Guitarist Andrew Cresto’s personal struggle with depression, but instead of it being a negative, the end result is a “love letter to depression”. Cresto used this as his inspiration when writing and shared, “I've stopped blaming my depression for a lot of things, and instead with this album, decided to thank it for being a constant source of artistic inspiration for me to draw from. It's not viewing depression in a negative way, but as rather a constant that should not be ignored or shunned, but talked about and used for a greater purpose (like making an album or an art).” Every detail was well thought out and every note, lick, slide and grove that you’ll hear is preciously where Cresto envisioned it when writing the new songs. The track listing itself is included as the titles put together create phrases that perfectly convey the recurring theme of depression, ‘All I want is sleep within walls thread between trancing nostalgia. All I want is light of forgiveness until we unfold to find clarity lost in a reverie. All I want is endless.’ Musically, the growth Save Us From The Archon has made since their last release is evident, however they continue with the melodic guitars, intense drum patterns and strong bass lines that fans fell in love with. Listeners will experience the emotion behind each song and that’s exactly what the band strove for during the creation of this album.
