Halloo Riotbox Ultra Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker 3.0 with Built in Speakerphone, Siri and 10 Hour Rechargeable Battery - 2014 New Version - Black

I have been searching for a while to find a clear, loud, portable stereo speaker to use with my ipod while I work. I am a mail carrier, which means I spend most of my day in a very loud, old truck complete with metal fan during the summer and outside noise (as we deliver with our driver side door open.) Suffice it to say, most speakers I have used for work have either a) not been LOUD enough b) distorted at the necessary volume or c) not been durable enough to be thrown into my mail bag at the end of each day.In addition, I used to be a studio engineer so clarity, bass response and overall frequency range are as important to me as volume.!!THIS SPEAKER BOX DOES IT ALL!! (Also, I am NOT a paid reviewer. I have no connection to this company. Just a satisfied customer who has been searching for a product like this.)My experience:It arrived quickly, as most things do from amazon suppliers. I was happy to find it comes with its own lightweight drawstring carrying bag. the battery had about half a charge, so it was "performance ready" out of the box. I was also pleased with the size. (i haven't been able to come up with a household item of the same size to compare it to, but it is a little smaller than a brick of coffee, if that helps.)Plugged my (older) iPod into the line in and was immediately blown away by the sound. Wide frequency response range INCLUDING solid, deep bass that does not overwhelm the mid-range or distort the hi's. (to give a complete rundown, I put the pod on shuffle and listened to the widest variety of styles I had available. Artists included Albert King, Mastadon, Beatles, Stones, Rodriguez, Outkast, Willie Nelson, George Winston, MF Doom, Allison Krauss, Metallica, the list goes on.) MAJOR volume. so loud that i could not take the volume at 100%. it was giving me a headache and I like loud music. I backed it off to about 95% (which has still proved to be more than I can stand on a regular basis- I now use it at about 85% all day) so that I could test the battery life and durability of the speakers. I kinda wanted to see it fail, honestly. after about 3 hours, the low battery message came on, so I plugged the USB cord into the cigarette lighter. No problems there. Played just the same while charging, no hum, no buzz.Charged it at home that night, got a full charge in about 2.5 hours. The next day I clocked the battery life at 7 hours 10 minutes. Running all day, no breaks. (during lunch I turned off the music, but left the power on.)I only have a few songs on my phone, but to be thorough I connected via bluetooth. Same excellent performance. (I cannot, however, comment on the battery life as applies to solely bluetooth use. other reviewers have commented that it is reduced.) I also made some calls (with the truck turned off) to check out the built in mic. Reports from the other end were that it was clear and loud, but souded a bit distant, which is not much of a surprise since the riotbox was on the dashboard, about a foot and a half away.At the end of the day, i threw the speaker and cords into the drawstring bag and tossed it into the mailbag.I am now about 2 weeks in, having used the riotbox every working day and I am loving it. I even loaned it to a fellow carrier to try out on my day off. (He didn't want to give it back.)If I have a criticism (and I don't, really) it's that while the box came with a 3.5mm "line in" cord and a USB to micro USB cord for charging, it did NOT include a wall plug for the USB. This was a very minor inconvenience, as a) it can be charged through a computer USB port and b) most us have a half dozen of these USB wall plugs in our homes as they are a standard cell phone accessory and available for a buck 99 at any convenience store. Also, for $35 there is already more bang in this box than expected.**And it is worth noting that before purchase, I read two reviewers who'd had a problem with this speaker developing a "clicking" or "popping" shortly after they began to use it. I did not experience this problem, but it warrants a mention and motivated me to get my riotbox out and running pretty quickly after I received it (which is a good plan for any new purchase) to find any flaws before the warranty/return policy times out.All in all, I can not praise this product enough. I don't think you can find a better product for 35 bucks. (honestly, I don't think you'd find it for 105.)

I bought this speaker on a Tuesday just because it was $29.99 and would have it y my doorstep by Thursday... Bought a bunch of them for myself and others for Christmas. One of the speakers I received arrived defected and kept popping when it played but returning was made easy and got my refund quick with return at no cost. I'm glad the one I had was the defective one and hope the others I gave away to friends don't come back to me saying there was a problem. However all of the other ones that I know of sound great for the money, and seems like good quality.

My Riotbox worked well for a couple weeks. It had good sound for its size. Unfortunately, it started to add a tick sound to the music after only two weeks of use. Now, it is unusable because there is a constant ticking whenever I connect it to a source with either Bluetooth or the audio cable. I tried playing music through the Riotbox with my laptop, tablet and phone. All of them experienced the same clicking noise so it is clearly a problem with the speaker. My guess is that the battery is low, but I plug it in with the included USB cord and the charge light only stays on for a couple minutes and then turns itself off. I now see that two other reviews here on Amazon had the same problem with clicking/popping sounds. I should have paid more attention to them. When 3 out of 11 reviews have the same defect, there is clearly a problem with the speaker.In any case, the speaker is unusable, and I'm now a couple days beyond the Amazon return period so I'm out of luck.

Worked in the truck driving at interstate speeds, crystal clear, wireless. Interupts your listening when you get an in-coming call and works as a speaker to whom ever you are talking extremely clear. Very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone.

It's loud! It's easy to use. It's well built but does not cost an arm and a leg.

As advertised and good for the price. It isn't quite as nice as the higher priced options, but it functions well and gets the job done for a fraction of the cost.

I loved it when I first got it. I was bragging and impressing everyone. Now the speaker is blown and is scratchy. Sounds terrible. Spend more money and get something better. I'm very sad because I thought I found a diamond In the rough. It will blow within 3 weeks if you listen to music with Bass. :(
