Very sleek, with only minor faults.
It's exactly what it looks like - sleek, stylish, simple. The charging ports are a real benefit - lots of clocks of a similar design have the USB ports on the front of the clock, which looks ugly. Here there is just a smooth, clean clock face. The clock itself could stand to be a bit heavier (I sometimes feel like it's too easy to jostle around when you're reaching to plug and unplug things) but this is more of a pet peeve of my own than an actual flaw.I do have two small critiques, though. First there could be better cable management behind the clock. Right now the only "cable management" is the raised bottom through which cords can pass - this leaves lots of loose/extra cords behind the clock that you need to wrap up or conceal on your own, or push out of sight. If there was a way to wind up extra cable and only use as you need, it would be better for the user. Second, this clock has a really fat power cable and AC adapter given how small a product it is. I understand why this is (to serve the 4 USB charging ports) but it would be that much sleeker if the power brick were integrated into the clock's body itself (this would also make it heavier and more substantial feeling, like a $50 alarm clock should feel).

functional alarm clock that doesn't look like it came off of a Star Trek movie set
FINALLY !! Someone made a simple, functional alarm clock that doesn't look like it came off of a Star Trek movie set. With its auto-dimming feature, I can read the time in the middle of the night without feeling the need for a welding helmet. You can read the time during daylight hours from the neighbor's house. Since I'm not one to leap out of bed singing "Oh What A Beautiful Morning", the huge snooze button right on the top of the clock gets a work-out. There's nothing else up there, by the way. You don't have to search around for it using the "seek and ye shall find" method. The instructions were easy to follow and the cell phone charging ports on the back are a very handy feature. Now, if it could only display a message reminding me to actually put the dadgum phone on charge !I should also mention that this is one of the easiest companies I've had the pleasure to do business with. The first clock arrived with a bit of a rattle in it. I called them up and explained my concern. Several days later, a new clock arrived on the porch with a return sticker in the box for the original. They didn't want the first one back until I had a replacement and they didn't put me through a bunch of fire hoops to get it. The only thing they wanted to do was to make sure that I was a satisfied customer. I most certainly am. Who does that these days?

Nice clock - but the buttons are awkward
The biggest issue I have with this clock is the buttons to adjust time are always "active". Most clocks you have to press one button and then press the clock adjust buttons. But with this clock, every time I clean off my dresser I have to avoid pressing the buttons. And they are right in the WRONG spot. so annoying.

Sandman Clocks Charging Station with Auto-dimming Display
I was looking for an old digital clock replacement for my bedroom. All clocks that I tried were without the Auto-Dimming option. Either it was a useless manual brightness (from 0 to 100%) adjustment or they have changed brightness in a time frame that could not be changed. For example, at 6 am have they turned on maximum brightness and blinds you.Auto-Dimming is a very rare and priceless thing today! I don't need an alarm clock and USB ports, but this is a good addition in case if you need them.I highly recommend it - this is a great bedroom clock!

Insanely easy to set—too easy
At first glance, this alarm clock is brilliant. It's crazy easy to set, simple to use, easy to see, and stacked with an array of USB ports for charging. What's not to like? Well, it turns out it's a little TOO easy to set. Guests, my cleaning people, and I have repeatedly accidentally adjusted the time or turned on the alarm just by picking up the clock. The position and operation of the buttons that adjust the clock are a far too easy to press just by handling the device.

Does what's important
I've been using the Sandman for over a month now, and for the things most important to me, the Sandman is great: > Clear letters you can easily see across the room > Excellent auto-dimming capability, with ability to tweak (great for those who are photosensitive) > Alarm starts out low and volume gradually increasesPer other reviews,, the clock is very light, "cord management" is a a big stretch, and buttons on back can be triggered easily (but not necessarily on purpose). The user manual is relatively (!) well written.Note that from what I can tell, once set, the clock doesn't really "adjust" to ambient light levels. There's just *2* levels; bight and dim, each configurable, and triggered by ambient light.

Great auto-dimming, but cheap plastic.
For my primary use as a clock that dims according to the room light levels, this is an excellent purchase.I should have paid attention to the dimensions because this is a big clock - far bigger than a bedside clock needs to be.For the discount price of $20, it's fine but definitely not worth the full MSRP - it feels very light and cheap plastic. As others have mentioned the buttons on the back are a real pain because they are pressed so easily and unfortunately you don't notice doing it so the time could be changed by a few minutes without you knowing. That happened to me.

Sorry, but I need to say a BIG NO!
I have had this clock since July, but I should of returned it! The directions are too too small and for me; too complicated. I want the clock numbers to stay bright. I followed the instructions on how to make it bright, but keeps on dimming to out. Maddening! Also the clock is to light in weight!
