Nana Mouskouri emerged from Greece in the late 1950s and went on to become one of the worlds most popular and successful singers, winning some 300 Gold and Platinum discs and selling more than 350 million records. This compilation anthologises her early career between 1959 and 1962, during which she began to grown into a huge International star. These sides feature Nana singing in Greek, German, French and English, and were recorded variously in Athens, Berlin, Paris and New York. It presents the very best of all her important early festival winning songs "Kapou Iparhi Agapi Mou", To Kiparissaki", "I Timoria", "Xypna Agapi Mou" and hit records, notably "Ta Pedia Tou Pirea", "Weise Rosent Aus Athens" (the million-selling original German language version of her signature song "White Rose Of Athens), "Ich Schau Den Weisen Wolken Nach", "Einmal Weht Der Sudwind Wieder", "Am Horizont Irgendwo", "Ton Adieu", "C'est Joli La Mer", "Sonata", "Je Reviendrai My Love", "Salvame Dios" etc. Also included are tracks recorded in New York with Quincy Jones for her celebrated 'The Girl From Greece Sings' LP notably "What Now My Love" and "Till There Was You". A wildly eclectic body of work, this is perhaps the most comprehensive Nana Mouskouri compilation on the market.

I bought this CD for my wife whose favorite singer is Nana Mouskouri. She loves this recording and especially the large number of tracks. Very satisfied.Peter Eck

Excellent sound and good selection of earlier work!
I was worried that these, being early recordings, might have marginal sound. But, being remastered the sound is fine! Excellent selection of earlier recordings and get a sense of why she was popular from the beginning!

If you attempt to import the songs to your personal computer (iTunes) Tracks 1-13 and also track 21 will be listed but rendered "Not Available" and will not play!If you only want the CD for playing in CD player then go right ahead, but be forewarned that you will NOT be able to import half of the songs into your iTunes library.

Does not play on my portable CD player
Really wanted Nana's earliest work. The first CD I bought at a music store (yes there are a few left in Los Angeles) but it skipped in several places. There is a no return policy and so I bought another CD on Amazon. It is really a bummer this second CD will no play on my portable CD player. It is a newer CD player and all the other Nana CDs I have will play on it. Not this one =0(
