this mount is not perfect, but ultimately I'm quite satisfied
Well, this mount is not perfect, but ultimately I'm quite satisfied... It probably deserves 4.5 stars, 4 stars doesn't really do it justice, but because of the initial mounting issues, I cannot give it full 5 stars; it took some hacking to make it usable. The main problem is that the clamp that holds onto the air-vent vane, is VERY stiff, and the sides of the clamp are pushed hard together when it is first delivered. If I had tried to just shove it onto the vane, it would have definitely destroyed it; the clamp is MUCH sturdier than the air vent! I had to use a sturdy screwdriver to bend the clamp open so I could use it - and after I did that, it was *too* wide and would not cold securely, and I could not seem to push them back together again... Fortunately, I got a second try by turning the clamp 90 degrees, and on the second try it was just right. The clamp and phone (a Galaxy S4) were pretty heavy together, so I mounted them on the bottom vane on my central air vent, and they work Fine... the phone is quite secure there, and I can poke buttons on the phone while I'm driving, with no problems. In use, I am very happy with it!! If they made the clamp more manageable, this would be a 5 star review. As it is, if you don't mind playing around with a screwdriver to get it installed, it will be reliable afterwards.

and so far I have been very satisfied. First the good stuff
I bought this clip to replace the cheapo unit I bought at Walgreen's which fell apart after six months, and so far I have been very satisfied. First the good stuff. The clip is very easy to install. The phone slips into the cradle easily and snuggly with a very solid grip. Then the clip slides very easily into the AC vent. Total installation time...5 seconds? Ease of installation and removal is a big plus because, for me at least, I only need to use this clip when I am using the GPS on my phone, which is only about once a week. So there is no need to keep the clip on all the time. Just pop it in when needed. Once installed, the phone sits very solidly in place. There is no shaking or jiggling or risk of the phone slipping out even when going over bumpy terrain. There is only one small drawback, and I should probably not even take away a full star because this is a problem with all AC vent clips. It does cut down on the AC circulation in the car. Obviously anything that blocks half the vent is going to do this. But unless its a super hot day, most people won;t even notice or care. What would be really nice is if car makers, instead of selling us overpriced and complicated GPS systems would instead install dash clips for phones, or maybe a slot on the dash just to hold a clip like this. But there is probably more money to be made selling "navigation packages."

One of best purchases for a heavy traveler.
I purchased this item almost 3 months ago and I have now used numerous times. My job has me travel several times a month and requires me to rent a car on the majority of my trips. I thus had a chance to try the QuGi in a variety of vehicles. I have had an iPhone for the past 4 years (4S, 5, 5S and now 6) and one of the issues has always been using its GPS and keeping it within sight. Most of the times it was on my laps and would slip/fall regularly while driving. The QuGi has been an incredibly cheap and first class purchase. It is very easy to use, seems sturdy and durable, and makes driving much safer and the use of my phone GPS much more convenient. Just a couple of notes:- It might not hold well on some vents, but it's been working fine for 95% of the cars I've rented so far- Sometimes direct sunlight makes it difficult to see the screen. However, this would be the case for any screen based instrument.I am purchasing a second one as I expect I will one day forget it in the rental car. I would not imaging traveling without it now that I've gotten used to it.Overall, an affordable and great purchase. Highly recommended.

Great Stuff!
So far so good. I really like this product. It is a bit tight to get in and out of the vent but it just means that it'll hold on well and won't fall off. I was originally concerned that the swivel mechanism might loosen up with the bumps and making adjustments here and there but so far it's been holding up really well. I'll have to give an update after using it for a few months or so.I like that this helps to cool off your phone while using the A/C in the summer months. The only issue is during the winter time when I turn the heater on. I guess I'll have to make sure it doesn't blow throw the forward vents.Overall, I'm a fan!

Works ok for some situations, and find for viewing Google maps while driving, but don't expect to press buttons easily
This works fine in my 1997 Jeep. It is tricky to add the cell phone and could drop the phone if you are trying to press a "key". Another factor is finding a place and angle so there is not too much glare on the screen. You can't rotate it to many angles, which limits where you can put it. But I use it for Google maps when driving to a new location. It is too "rickety" to use for times when you need to press buttons like selecting music, etc. It's grip on the air conditioning vents is not very tight, thus it could pop out. Also, you need two hands to insert the phone into the gripper. I have not been able to do it one handed, so don't expect to install the phone while driving.

So convenient, and keeps my phone cool.
This mount has been so helpful this summer. On any day above 70 degrees my wimpy finnicky phone would overheat on the dash mount and start closing down apps while I was trying to navigate. Now I have it sitting right in front of an air vent like some kind of prima donna, receiving half the AC meant for me. At least I can listen to podcasts and get directions at the same time again. At first there was a little trial and error with figuring out the best angle and height to set it at so it would stay balanced and wouldn't fall at the slightest turn or bump. Now it stays secure, even over speed bumps. I like that I can still easy grab it to take with me in my husband's car or to travel.
