Buyer beware: Does not live up to description
I purchased this item after a kitchen fire and needed a place to cook until my kitchen could be rebuilt. I compared all similar induction burners. I was looking for one that the controls weren’t going to be overlapped by larger pots and since these were on an incline they fit that, I needed good wattage and this was 1800 watts and that’s real good for a portable, then I needed a large induction eye and the manufacturer photos show a fake red area out to the large circle and the questions and answers state by the manufacturer that the induction area is just slightly less than 8 inches. Ok based on all of this I purchased this item. When I received it, it worked real well until I noticed that when I heated butter or oil, the sizzling area was always very small. So I took out a 5 ply very flat bottom pot, slightly larger than the eye and put about a half inch of water in it and set it to high wattage, I could see the tiny boiling heat bubbles and they were concentrated in a 6 inch diameter. That is the small globe inside the large circle on on the cooktop! The large circle is 8 inch diameter. So I call cosmo customer support, they don’t know the induction area and will contact engineers. Meanwhile I call them back with the info from amazon and they tell me that the engineers say it’s only the globe diameter. Now that’s funny because that’s a small little circle for a big cooktop and the info advertised is wrong. They advise to just keep unit and they will just send a new unit. New unit never is sent. My return time with amazon Runs out while waiting and unit stops functioning. Call again they state to call amazon and beg them to take unit back after return time since it’s so close to that time. Shoppers be advised this unit is only 6” induction eye which is very small. Temp can’t be controlled manually only by the preprogrammed settings which are very dumb jumps in temp. Customer support at cosmo tells you they will do one thing but don’t trust them.

Works great for small batch BIAB
I use this for mashing, 1 gallon batches of BIAB. It's just large enough for my 16qt brew kettle with a 10" base diameter. Maxed at 1800watts, it brings my strike volume (around 9 quarts) up to temp (162F) in about 10-15 minutes, with the lid on. It heats evenly, with less than a 1 degree difference in temp throughout the kettle, while applying heat. I don't have to bother with insulating my kettle, or worry about losing heat when I take the lid off to stir the mash. Once I hit my temp, I hit the Min button to drop it down to 200 watts, and it maintains my temp perfectly. I lose less than 1 degree over the course of an hour. Temps don't spike near the bottom either, as long as you keep your grains elevated slightly, you get even temp throughout your mash. I use a stainless cooling rack in the bottom of the kettle.I don't boil on this however, I move outside to a propane burner. My boil volume is usually around 7.5 quarts, and this really struggles to bring that volume to a boil, even on max. It takes about 40 minutes for any portion of the wort to come to a boil. It will just barely reach a boil in the very center of the kettle (212.5F) and will never get higher than (213F) no matter how long you wait. Around the edges of the kettle, the wort never reaches a boil, it stalls out around (210F). With a smaller volume, I'm sure it would do fine, but for my purposes, this induction plate is not suited for boiling.Do not use this product on a circuit with any other high draw devices, most household circuit breakers will trip at 20A. Do not use this product on the same wall receptacle as anything else at all. Even though the breaker and wiring can handle 20A, most 120v wall plug receptacles are only rated for 15A.It's worth mentioning, on high power settings, this thing makes a high pitched screeching sound. I sounds metallic. It isn't super loud, you have to be standing within a few feet to hear it, but it is annoying.

Great Product
So far the packaging was okay. The product is very high quality and looks just like the pictures above. Seems good build quality. I'm very happy with the first impressions of this product. I will update as I use it.UPDATE: I have used this induction cook top a couple times now so here is a general review after some use.You CAN use cast iron but I would recommend against it, it takes a long time to heat up and also causes E5 which is over heating pan or cooktop.I would recommend using stainless steel pans. They give me the best results. Nonstick or regular. The noise is pretty low. A lot quieter than a microwave. The fan is not bothersome, and the noise the top makes when you start cooking isn't loud, but it DOES make a noise. So I would say it's a good noise as you can hear it working. The noise the top makes isn't louder than the fan, even at highest setting. I have more luck with the power option instead of temperature option for choosing heat. It properly recognizes when I lift the pans up, which is nice. The fan does stay on after you push the power button. I was a bit confused by how to operate it at first. Long press until ON shows. Then tap function to get to your function. To turn off simply press the power button once. And the fan will turn off after a bit of time.Overall it's a great cook top. Once I got stainless steel pans it's worked even better. To clarify it DOES work with cast iron. Maybe use lower heat setting and wait longer. For my use I want quicker heat.Definitely 5 star device as of now. Highly recommended.UPDATE2 NOTE: Using the higher power levels, 1200+ creates a very high frequency noise. Barely can hear it but sort of gives a bit of a head ache. Not sure if it's something that will go away in time or not. But I mostly don't use the higher settings, and also it was with a smaller pan. Just a note. Not deal breaking.
