Wärmer Systems 1/2 Garden Lever Tap Valve with Red Handle and Metal Hose Plug - Outdoor Bib Tap with BSP Thread

Good idea...but may not last
This is a much better tap than your standard Bib tap, it lacks a check valve so may not comply with water regs unless you have one fitted on down the line.I have fitted check valves and installed two of these last week. 1 has started to rust already, seems to be the nut that holds the handle on.on the other one the handle fell off, in pretty normal use, it seems the spindle isnt long enough to protrude the whole way through the nut, and out the other side. because its quite a low profile nut, it seems like only 2 threads holding it on. I was able to fix this with some loctite and it will do my job (temporary services to build.)

A Functional Ball Valve
This item was purchased to replace a very inferior PVC valve which has proven to leak at sub 5°C conditions. The valve was mated with a ¾" BSP external to ½" BSP internal HDPE bush adaptor and installed to a 300 Litre water butt. The butt was refilled to approx. [150 Litres] half capacity with clean H²0. The valve was then tested for an extensive period to establish if any leaks were visible, also the rotational operating torque of the lever assembly was tested and found to be acceptable. In the closed position the valve did not exhibit any evidence of water past the sealing media. In conclusion, this product has passed to be adequate for use intended.

Weak Construction. Leaked and snapped!
Easily installed and great for a time but, the alloy is not well forged - the result was an initial leak from the body which then completely sheared during a period of cold weather. Lesson learned.. Buy cheap, pay twice as Granny says. Spend a bit more from a DIY store and get something that will last.

Fits into existing fittings
Just used plumbers tape on threads to make a leakproof seal.unscrew old leaky fitting, screw new tap into existing fitting and you have a new tap ready to go,Wanted a LEVER top much easier to turn on / off with arthritic hands.

When will I learn .....
Used as outside tap replacement as you hold you can tell your only getting what you pay.... for £3 extra you get far better quality tap form screwfix.... “peglar brand “ the bib part to this tap has no strength and leaked like a sieve.

Very poor quality
The screw on end did not seal and the diameter of tap is very small restricting flow from 15mm to about 10mm. Very poor spend a bit more and get a better tap.

Brilliant
This lever tap is so easy to turn on/off, especially helpful for those with poor grip / manual dexterity difficulties.Highly recommended.
