Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 80GB UDMA/133 7200RPM 2MB IDE Hard Drive

My 20GB ATA boot drive in my Mac G4, dating from January 2001, had been clicking for some time now, and getting slower and slower. Finally, during a crucial job, it locked up and had to be revived with Norton Disk Doctor. (I keep a spare iBook for just such an emergency.) I needed a new boot drive.But since I bought this desktop, ATA drives as I knew them have become pretty much obsolete. As one little s*** salesman at a well-known bricks-and-mortar computer store told me, "Times change, sir". F*** him.The one place I knew I'd be able to find a compatible hard drive was online, on Amazon. And sure enough, they came through.It installed right in place of my old drive (I didn't even have to reposition the jumpers), and now my old G4 FLIES. It laughs at Illustrator and Photoshop. I should have done this two years ago, instead of trying to nurse the old one along.

This hard drive seems to last 4 or 5 years (with constant use) in the Korg D32XD multitrack recorder which is pretty good considering the abuse it takes from the machine! Easy to install, Cheap fix!! Back-up regularly!

I had to contact the seller as soon as I installed it. Windows could not format it. Finally Windows Vista installed but in a week, it was not booting. This was a waste of money and time. That's 2 close purchases from Amazon sellers back to back. Until these 2, i've been quite satisfied with the site.

Have not installed it yet as I am waiting on an install disk for windows 7. I have accessed the self check program and it seems the drive is good, but will not know for sure till I install windows.

The original shipment of my order was "misplaced" by the carrier. When New World IT found out they contacted me and sent a replacement which was received in 2 days. I plugged in the new drive, formatted it, no problem. New World IT's customer service is excellent.
