Baby Driver (Tam Gaz)

This is a film that really shouldn't work. The basic premise is odd, there's a lot of violence, big holes in the plot, and some scenes - gun fights set to music - border on the preposterous.And yet... There's a terrific sound track, some great car chases, and the main character is quirky and likeable. Give it two hours of your time and enjoy the ride. But make sure you fasten your seat belt!

It's fun all the way through. But the craft is just amazing when you realise how well it's edited and syncd to the music. It has a Pulp Fiction feel. All great characters and Lily James is smoking and sultry and Jon Hamm actually makes for a great villain. And the retro soundtrack taps your feet and nods your head. "Keep yourself alive" while you watch this film.

You know when you see a film and turn it off or watch somthing else .That was what happened when i first watched this . After finding out that Edgar Wright had directed it , it was time too revisit and reappraise it , good job too as its very good , in the kind of way when you see a film you think your going to hate but surprise yourself by really liking it. This action film is in fact a musical , but without the spontaneous breaking into dance and song, it'll make sense when you see it. GREAT soundtrack ,can't stress that enough, good simple plot too . Getting someone to watch a film you love is always difficult as the listener looks at you as if you mad or someone trying to convert them too a new religion. Its time for a bit of blind faith in someone you dont know and surprise yourself and think " im glad i saw that" . This is shot in time with the music so the scene where Baby walks to the coffee shop is not only shot in one long take ' brilliantly 'done , you'll see the words of the song appear as griftti on the wall ect. as the camera reaches that point , its amazing .

Unusual as everything is choreographed tightly to the soundtrack. The villains are really sinister, especially Jamie Foxx. John Hamm (Mad Men) does an excellent turn as a fallen stockbroker turned bank robber. The heists and driving scenes are amazing. I found the ending following the final heist/chase very disappointing as it petered out and people started acting out of character (in ways I can't divulge without spoilers). Something more dramatic with a proper explosive payoff would have been much better. Up to that point, one of my favourite films. I took the opportunity to watch the first 3/4 of the film a couple of times, to really capture the clever blend of the music with the action.

A work of absolute genius. Laser focus editing timed to the beat of an all time great soundtrack, this is everything cool in movies and more. Incredible cast, thrilling action and for Edger Wright fans a new direction and a new depth in his commitment to blending film and music into a seamless whole. It's Tarantino if his films could dance. Freakin' loved it.

It's quite good fun and, as others have said, the editing with the soundtrack is exceptional. It's acted fine (it's an action movie) and the car chase sequences are really well done. It's got a bit of humour and the lead and his love interest are adequately charismatic. A solid film and an entertaining couple of hours. Get the beers and crisps out and have fun, but don't expect anything revolutionary.

It's a reasonable story given a stylised telling, in that rather than the music fit the narrative and action, it's the reverse. The actors had to time things to the song that would be playing.And on the whole it works to give a run-of-the-mill story a quirky appeal, a differentiator in an otherwise crowded marketplace.I do usually enjoy Edgar Wright's stuff, and this is no exception. He knows how to direct a good film well, and he also knows how to add a quirkiness, a unique style, to it. It's not as comic-book as Scott Pilgrim, or as comic as his Simon Pegg collaborations, but it is still a good take on a well-trodden genre. It's helped by an excellent supporting cast, including Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, and (is it okay to say?) Kevin Spacey, each of them happy to almost play second fiddle to the style. That's not to say that the style dominates, and in some regards that is a weakness in that the film works best when the style is at its most obvious. When it is more subtle, or simply lacking, the film struggles to raise itself, and just when you think it is heading into generic realms, up pops the music-dominated styling to raise it above once again.I did feel it could have done with some more popular songs, though, as the tempo, but that may be due to my personal tastes. And perhaps going too popular might have made the film just too beholden to the style rather than the story.heck, it was an enjoyable ride. Recommended for sure.

This might turn out to be THE film of 2017. Saw it on the big screen and the 4K version totally delivers. The blend of sound-track over the action scenes in particular, in time with what's going on in the film makes this an absolute modern-day masterpiece, and actually pretty unique. You won't be able to get the music out of your head. Too bad about the allegations against Spacey these days but it doesn't detract from my view this is an outstanding film and one to own.

Edgar Wrights "Baby Driver" aus dem Jahr 2017 konnte überraschenderweise drei Oscar-Nominierungen erringen. Zum einem wurde der beste Schnitt von Jonathan Amos und Paul Machliss nominiert, eine weitere Nominierung gab es für den besten Ton (Tim Cavagin, Mary H. Ellis und Julian Slater) sowie für den besten Tonschnitt (Julian Slater). Hauptdarsteller Ansel Elgort wurde zudem als bester Hauptdarsteller für einen Golden Globe nominiert - verlor aber gegen James Franco für "The Distaster Art".Tatsächlich ist "Baby Driver" total auf seinen jungen Hauptdarsteller zugeschnitten, der bereits mit seinen Rollen in "Das Schicksal ist ein mieser Verräter", "Die Bestimmung" oder "Carrie" eine gute Figur abgab.Edgar Wright schickt sich natürlich immer mehr an ein echter Kultregisseur zu werden. Er drehte den Zombie Klassiker "Shaun of the Dead" und auch "Hot Fuzz" mit einem großartigen Simon Pegg als Hauptdarsteller. Auch seine Nachfolgefilme wie "Scott Polgrim gegen den Rest der Welt" oder "The Worlds End" wurden echte Erfolge. Als Autor war er auch für die Comic-Verfilmung "Ant Man" verantwortlich. Baby Driver selbst spielte bis jetzt 226 Millionen Dollar weltweit ein. Dabei spielt die Logik nicht die Hauptrolle in diesem speedigen und äusserst temperamentvollen Actionfilm. Aber der Unterhaltungswert ist sehr hoch und das liegt tatsächlich an dem jungen Helden Miles (Ansel Elgort), der von allen nur Baby genannt wird. Seine Eltern kamen schon sehr früh bei einem Autounfall ums Leben und lebt als Waise in Atlanta. Er lebt bei seinem tauben Pflegevater Joseph (CJ Jones) - Baby selbst leidet an Tinnitus. Daher trägt er fast immer Kopfhörer und versucht mit der Musik auf seinen iPods das quälende und durchgehende Pfeifen zu übertönen.Miles ist in einer Sache extrem talentiert - er ist ein begnadeter Autofahrer. Er ist schneller als alle anderen. Ein Grund genug, dass der Gangsterboss Doc (kevin Spacey) ihn braucht, denn als Fluchtwagenfahrer ist er die Nr. 1. Zudem schuldet der Junge dem Gangster noch Geld, warum auch immer. Er muss also diese Straftaten begehen, damit er seine Schulden begleichen kann. Während also die anderen kumpane Bats (Jamie Foxx), Buddy (Jon Hamm) und Darling (Eiza Gonzalez) fürs Grobe zuständig sind, also Banküberfall, steht Baby mit dem Fluchtwagen draussen und wird dann mit seinen Fahrkünsten die Verfolger in Schach halten.Dies gelingt auch meistens. Und Baby verliebt sich in die hübsche Debora (Lily James), die in einem Diner arbeitet. Von seiner kriminellen Karriere erzählt er ihr aber nichts. Bald sind die Schulden bei Doc abbezalhlt, doch der versucht durch Erpessung Baby noch einmal für einen Coup zu gewinnen...Das Ganze erinnert ein bisschen an den 70er Jahre Klassiker "Driver" von Walter Hill, ist aber deutlich aufgemotzt und wartet auch mit einem interessanten Soundtrack auf, in dem The Commodores, Queen, Barry White, Isaac Hayes oder Lionel Ritchie zu hören sind. Ingesamt kommt nie Langeweile auf und die 113 Filmminuten vergehen wie im Fluge.

Außerdem ist Miles ein unheimlich guter Autofahrer, was ihm jedoch gewissermaßen zum Verhängnis geworden ist: Er hat versucht, ein Auto des Gangsterbosses Doc (Kevin Spacey) zu klauen. Dies ist ihm zwar mehr oder weniger gelungen, doch als Schadensersatz lässt Doc Miles als Fluchtwagenfahrer bei seinen Überfällen und krummen Deals arbeiten. Dank Miles' Fahrkünsten gelingt jede Flucht problemlos, alles läuft prima - er lernt sogar die Kellnerin Debora (Lily James) kennen, mit der er auf einer Wellenlänge ist. Doch dann wird er Fahrer für das Gauner-Trio Bats (Jamie Foxx), Buddy (Jon Hamm) und Darling (Eiza González) - und plötzlich läuft nicht mehr alles ganz so rund...Baby Driver ist ein Action-Thriller von Regisseur und Drehbuchautor Edgar Wright aus dem Jahr 2017. Ich erinnere mich, dass ich damals den Trailer gesehen habe und ziemlich angefixt war. Im Kino war ich für den Film zwar letztendlich doch nicht, doch habe ich mir zumindest die Blu-ray zugelegt. Tja, was soll ich sagen? Mal wieder war der Trailer besser als der Film. Nicht, dass Baby Driver schlecht wäre: Er bietet actiongeladene Verfolgungsjagden, einen tollen Soundtrack, einen ordentlichen Schuss Humor und jede Menge Coolness.Doch eben gerade die Coolness wirkt oftmals zu aufgesetzt, etliche Charaktere sind generisch und eindimensional, eine ausgefeilte Story oder Überraschungen hat Baby Driver auch nicht zu bieten. Der Film ist von Anfang bis Ende durchgestylt, und das ist schließlich gelungen: Die Kameraeinstellungen und -fahrten, die aufs Geschehen abgestimmte, größtenteils aus den 70ern stammende Musik bis hin zu den Dialogen, hier stimmt so ziemlich alles. Aber das war's im Grunde auch schon. Wem das genügt, der wird sicher seinen Spaß mit Baby Driver haben. Ich persönlich hätte mir jedoch zumindest ein bisschen mehr Substanz gewünscht. So ist es ein Fall von "Kann man einmal gesehen haben, ein zweites Mal muss jedoch nicht sein".Die Blu-ray selbst hingegen ist einwandfrei: Bild und Ton sind top, Bonusmaterial gibt's in großem Umfang. Da kann man nicht meckern.

Die Lieferung erfolgte prompt.Einfach ein grandioser Film, er auf Autos und Heist Filme steht, der kann hier ohne Bedenken zuschlagen.Ich möchte nicht zu sehr ins Detail gehen, schaut euch am besten den Trailer an und ihr seid nach wenigen Sekunden überzeugt.

Cercando sul web, questa è l'edizione che ho preferito sia per cover che per contenuti. La steelbook a mio parere è molto bella e pulita, e all'interno contiene due dischi, il primo con il film e con gli extra (senza l'audio italiano), il secondo con un making of che presenta anche i sottotitoli in italiano (disco che comunque sul nostro mercato non è mai arrivato). Il film lo consiglio, ben fatto e il ruolo di Kevin Spacey regala belle sorprese!
