Well-made, small design flaws
Pros:This is a well-made, sturdy kettle that gives you great control over where and how quickly you pour. It takes between 4 and 5 minutes to boil 1 liter of water depending on the heat of the water you start with, which is faster than on the stove. The auto-off function is a life saver (possible literally) and works reliably. It slides easily on/of the base, but the bottom remains cool so you can put it on the counter even with boiling water in it. The kettle has a good weight to it and appears to be made of quality parts. All the important stuff is good.Cons:The window on the top is useless when the kettle is on because it fogs over instantly. So if you want your water at any temperature other than a rolling boil, you have to guess. Also, the water-level indicators are difficult to read (located at the back of the inside the kettle so you cannot see it an pour at the same time) and there are only two: 0.5 Liters and 1 Liter. Since no one measures their tea or coffee by liters, these are not helpful. Also, after it performs the automatic shut-off and you have emptied the kettle, sometimes it makes another "turning off" sound several minutes later which is spooky. These are all nit-picky problems but prevent this from being the perfect kettle.

Great Kettle Until Lid Defect Breaks Lid Fastener
Great kettle. We loved it for heating & pouring water for pour over coffee, until a defect appeared this week, close to 1 year of daily use. May 1, 2019 will be 1 year. March 19 s small black rectangular plastic piece ratalled when I was done pouring. The pot's metal screen kept the piece from getting in my coffee. Afterward, the lid remains open about an 8th inch. This slows water heating & more critical renders the auto off safety unreliable. I compensate by placing a ceramic mug on top of the lid.

Great for several months... then not so great
Bought this kettle a little over a year ago and I use it every day for pour-over coffee. I LOVED it at first and I still like it. However the function that determines when the water is boiling for auto shut off has stopped working. In the mornings I start the kettle heating and then go to feed my cat. When I return the water is hot and ready to go. However a couple of months ago I noticed that it was just boiling away when I came back. It did this occasionally... and now the auto shut off almost never works. I suppose this is not as bad as some of the other issues with the lid breaking etc... but I expect more than a year out of a device like this. And I wonder what would happen if I had to leave the house and forgot about the kettle while it was boiling.

Kettle is a safer my hazard
As noted by previous reviewers after a month or so the lid will not stay completely closed. This is not utterly terrible in its own but this is somehow connected to the auto shut off mechanism when the water begins to boil. In other words the water will keep boiling in perpetuity. I discovered this as I pushed the lid close with a stick after the water kept boiling for a few minutes. It then shut off. This is an absolute safety hazard and I cannot reccomend this to anyone.

Water leaking over the top when you tilt it too much thinking it'll speed up the flow, so beware. Otherwise gets the job done, boils the water in seconds.

Does a perfect job for pour-over coffees
My husband purchased this and he is very satisfied, says it works great and it's really easy to hand wash because of its wide mouth.

Wow bought this only 6 months ago and it no long turns off so the thermostat must no longer work; just boils and boils and boils of course I turn it off
