Midnight Sun

Typical YA rom-com that pretty much was something I always dreamed about....expect the rare disease.
I saw the preview for the movie and realizing it's a book I added it to my list. Now keep in mind haven't seen the movie yet.Typical YA rom-com, girl has a secret crush on boy that boy doesn't know about, boy and girl meet in a unexpected unique way, boy and girl fall in love and...........girl SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dies..........This sort of made me think of all the countless day dreams I had growing up, how I wanted my crush (lets face it, the crush of the week) would suddenly realize I exist and that I'm pretty awesome and fall madly in love with me. So it's always great to read books where this thing happens. Now it was a great concept but sometimes I just feel like it was so overly cheesy, and that is saying a lot from me since I am a full blown lover of all things in the romantic comedy department. When it wasn't overly cheesy sometimes it got awkward like it was all fake or forced. And with all that let's not forget that she has a very rare genetic disorder that pretty much won't let her get direct sunlight.....or she will die. I just feel she would have been able to live her happily ever after if she just would of told him. Sure I know we all have been there, we as teenagers think we know EVERYTHING! But the adult me is screaming at this girl saying JUST TELL HIM!!!!!!!! I get that she wants to be more then her disease, i get it we are more then just one thing but come on this is life and death. What is she was deathly allergic to peanuts? Pretty sure she would tell him before he risked bringing a peanut butter sandwich along and she took a bite to keep the secret. It was an ok book, decent story but could have used less cheesiness and awkwardness.

It could have been a great book. The writing was juvenile and the story rushed. I didn't connect with any of the characters. Would not recommend.

This book could have been really good. The idea was good but the writing was horrible. I didn't care what happened to the characters and some parts of the book were too unrealistic.

Full of hope and living life at it's best
A story of hope, love, and the courage to live life to the fullest every day despite the struggle of having a disease that makes following your dreams nearly impossible. For anyone who believes in love.

Bought it by accident but ended up liking it more than I thought I would. More heartwarming than tearjerking.

You will believe in love!
I loved the book. I wanted to see the movie but, I have to read the book first. I cried at the end of this book. The movie had the same outcome. I had no idea there was a disease out there like this.

Amazing read!!!
I honestly loved this book! It was right up my street in terms of the books I like to read. I loved everything about this book and watched the movie right after I finished. If you’re looking to see the movie definately give the book a read first! Read it in one sitting; couldnt reccomend it more (book and movie)!

Could have been a great emotional weepy romance.
This was a lovely romance, but sadly it fell very flat. There wasn't enough depth to the characters or story, it all felt a little rushed and very 2D. The story is there but the development isn't. It certainly could have been a longer more complex romance to really keep readers whipping through the pages.

Very poorly written
I read this book and it honestly felt like a child had written it, it lacks depth an I did not believe any of the characters. I was cringing when reading it because it was so predictable and unrealistic. Basically just a downgraded version of everything everything by Nicola Yoon. I would not reccomend.

Good story
Lovely story with a sweet OTP as the centre. The main characters are well rounded and whilst Inwould have liked another couple of hundred pages I think it was almost perfect as it is!
