Gave up at 58%
At the moment there are 9 reviews for this book and 4 of the 8 five star ones are single review accounts, mostly labelled "Amazon Customer". I know friends / family want to be encouraging but it can have a negative effect as the surperlatives often promise more than is delivered. I don't like doing down a fledgling author - but I'm afraid that I'm not enjoying this. The chapters alternate around a number of characters and sometimes they repeat the scene from the previous chapter, sometimes they pick up immediately afterwards. It's a good idea and there are flickers of a good writer in there - the only problem is that I'm bored.I've got to 58% and I'm giving up - mainly because I don't really LIKE any of the characters, so I've nothing invested in the outcome. They are either 1 dimensional bit parters (who drop in and out) or slightly psycho (the main male character, Giles) or just annoying (the main female characters, Lucy and Paula). The latter pair are annoying because they often say the same things at the same time. Not only have I never known friends do that - it gets wearing after you've read it a few times.I kind of want to know what the twist at the end is - but I've just paged through a LOT of text for the sex scenes and also all the stuff at the race track - and I just can't take any more. I've just read Paula mentally putting a black mark against someone for wearing black jean. Sorry but that kind of thinking is too shallow for me. Time to delete.

Hmm not sure where the erotic romance is
I think this novel is best suited as a very short story rather than stretched out. I am not persuaded that proper research has been undertaken with police procedures or criminal..law - the notion that a local authority worker, former 'detective' can in any way interfere or be involved in a cold case is questionable. An obsessed stalker, dislikeable characters, in a plot ending that is predictable and not at all a cliff hanger. Also uncomfortable with what I felt was the questionable representation of one demographic of Zimbabwe

Full of twists and turns
I loved the female characters in this story! They were strong yet vulnerable and they both knew their individual self worth. I loved the bond that they had.I like the police characters and how they allowed the investigation to proceed as necessary.Would recommend this book to those who like stories with an unexpected twist.

Awesome!!
Naked Truths is a fantastic psychological thriller, a true page-turner with many twists and turns that keep you wondering ‘who really did it’ right up to the final page. It's a definite ‘must read’ and I can't recommend it highly enough!A fabulous debut by Karen Botha and I look forward to reading her 2nd book.
