He had so much good material that I decided to read the book
I had heard Dr. Masley's presentation on PBS. I watched the whole 2-hour program! He had so much good material that I decided to read the book.It needs some editing, but is worth the effort because there is so much useful material in it. I have not finished it yet, but am working on the diet and trying to change my sweets addiction. Carbs are also on their way out and more vegetables are in. Not too hard, just a matter of caring to do it.

Wow! This book is amazing! One of the best books I have ever read!
Wow! This book is an easy read and SO interesting. Great information. I can follow the book and this way of life easily. It makes perfect sense yet no one is really talking about how we can save our brains. Thank you Dr. Masley for researching this information and sharing it with all of us in such a great way. I want to buy this book for everyone I know.

Information relating to enhancing mental and physical health at my age (74) is remarkably interesting - especially coming from a well qualified health professional. I was especially intrigued by Dr. Masley's description of data describing the measurable effects of exercise and diet on life span, desired nutrient concentrations in the body, desired lab test results, the relationship between diabetes and obesity to each other and to heart disease and brain function are outstanding.I do not give this book a five star rating because the recipes tend to be rather complicated. The ingredients list is shockingly lengthy and some of the ingredients themselves appear to be rare and many are unheard of by me. I suspect that many of the ingredients are rather expensive also. Hence the recipes are not likely useful to the everyday middle class american mother or father that may have a strong interest in nutritious meals for their family.I am pleased that I purchased this book and believe that except for the recipes it will enhance my efforts to be healthy.

Very Helpful to Someone interested in gaining this knowledge
My mom has been having memory problems for a couple of years now. I applaud my mom for having always taken an interest in her well being. I bought this book for her recently, she has been studying, absorbing the information, and making a plan to implement the diet and practices in hopes of improving her brain function. This information offered in one resourceful book has been very helpful. I will post later as to the outcome.

Look no further for a guide for better brain health!
This is the most inclusive and well-researched book I've read on the brain and preventing dementia. Masley covers nutrition, exercise, brain training, and other pointers to improve our command center. I also watched his program on public television. He wasn't about selling products--he was about educating the audience on the importance of keeping our brains sharp after middle age and beyond. Although scientific, Masley presents information in lay terms and has a wonderful writing style. It's as if he is talking with us--not to us. Highly recommend.

Interesting reading - data on effects of foods and blood sugar - since I have been a vegetarian all my life, and eat only organic, healthy foods, parts of this were a validation of my own diet.There were some interesting recipes in one section of the book which I can adapt, as sometimes they included meat based products.

My greatest fear was becoming that "silly old lady" who forgot ...
I've been wondering if my inability to remember names was serious or just getting old. I didn't realize that mental decline as not inevitable, and the degree that lifestyle choices (food, sleep, activity) can hurt (scary) or protect (super hopeful) my noggin. My greatest fear was becoming that "silly old lady" who forgot everything.... I've got way more peace of mind (every pun intended) because I have an ACTION PLAN to keep my mind intact. Thank you, Dr. Masley for sharing this information in a way anyone can understand, and that I can actually take action with. Super grateful. :-)

Great material - poor quality binding
The book itself is outstanding - 5 stars worth with lots of reference material that I will use for reference for yours. However, the quality of the book itself is poor. The edge of the pages zig zag. I have never seen this problem before.

It just makes sense!! And, Steven Masley shares the latest scientific information in a very readable and 'common-sense' style. It is a pleasure to have this guidance toward better health and brighter cognitions. I was dealing with a majority of the symptomatic patterns and felt the distinct changes immediately when following his options for change.I always thought this was just a part of aging...but it's not! I thank Dr. Masley for sharing his insights and knowledge in this book and I also thank my son for giving me this book and introducing me to a higher quality of life. If you want to improve as you age - no matter what age you are presently at - this is it!

A an easy to follow blueprint for optimal brainpower
The author have vast knowledge and experience when it comes to the brain and how it works. Beyond that, what is most impressive to me, is that these simple to follow strategies are being used by his patients and with great effect.So this isn't a book of unproven theories, this is essentially a simple, yet powerful blueprint to help anyone improve brain function and reduce the chance of any brain degenerative diseases.I feel blessed to have stumbled on his work and I highly recommend for anyone who is serious about brain health.
