I have a new laptop which mainly has USB C sockets, and this version with a USB C cable is just as good. All the ports on this are USB A. Ok for usb sticks, usb ssd drives (it will transfer files fast), plus wireless mouse dongles, usb mouse and keyboard, logitech clicker, etc. But it won't power an external spinning hard drive. I think the total max current it can pass is 0.9 amp, so keep that in mind.
