Buyer Beware
I am an architect and lighting designer, I don't highly recommend Lightolier products anymore to anyone, I used to buy them because they were affordable and beautiful, and I specified their track for my home, so changing manufacturers now would mean changing track and I don't want to do that. They really are poorly made, very poorly made and this instrument is no exception. That said I wanted a lower profile, elegant instrument for a room and this fit the bill aesthetically, it is simple and clean, doesn't shout out "I'm here" just does its job providing good light where I need it. I use USHIO Ultra Titan MR-16s 50w floods and spot in my application. Over the years my Lightolier products fell apart from poor workmanship, shoddy materials, and the transformers just burned out, I wouldn't mind but at $350 for an instrument it doesn't pay. This instrument is as I said elegant and more affordable at $100 and while no better made, the cheaper price and aesthetic made it a good buy. If you are buying track lighting for the first time consider another manufacturer and instrument. The phrase that comes to mind is "lipstick on a pig" when considering Lightolier products.

A piece of junk.
Spring loaded clamps to hold down bulb are flimsy and break very easily. If they could have made it any cheaper they would have.

Exactly what I needed
This Lightolier light replaced a faulty one. It worksperfectly. Fortunately I did not need to replace thetrack as I feared.

Burning out one by one...
Did a remodel 10 years ago using MR 16 low voltage Lightolier with 50w bulbs. Three tracks with four lights each.Electrician installed on dimmer. First they started to whine when dimmed. Then they started to burn out. One by one the ceramic plates inside the outlet that holds the bulb prongs are going bad. At a $140 each to replace. I called Lightolier customer service (good luck trying to find the number) they sent me a replacement kit that was virtually unusable. I cannot recommend these lights. Since they are halogen they get so hot you cannot touch them until they cool off for 15 minutes. Buyer beware!!!
