More than 20 years in the making, December 2023 finally sees the release of 'i/o', Peter Gabriel's first album of new material since 2002's 'Up'. During 2023, Peter released a new song from the album on the occasion of every full moon. Being revealed roughly every four weeks, each track has been allowed to find its own time and space, to enjoy its own orbit. 'It's a little like getting a Lego piece each month' Peter explains. Now it's time to stand back and admire the final, completed creation. And what a creation - 12 tracks of grace, gravity and great beauty that provide welcome confirmation of not only Peter's ongoing ability to write stop-you-in-your-tracks songs but also of that thrilling voice, still perfectly, delightfully intact. Throughout the album the intelligent and thoughtful - often thought-provoking - songs tackle life and the universe. While reflective, the mood is never despondent; 'i/o' is musically adventurous, often joyous and ultimately full of hope, topped off as it is, by the rousingly optimistic closing song, 'Live and Let Live'.

I/0 THIS TO PETER GABRIEL
This album is well worth the wait from PG as it is a fine offering of assorted songs and he is in fine form and his voice is still powerful and strong after all these years. I have been waiting a LONG time for this release and it certainly does NOT disappoint at all and if you like his albums such as "So" and "Up" to mention just a few you will adore the songs on I/O.There are only two tracks that are rather stale in my views but guess others will like them but penny for penny this is well worth the buy to add to your PG collection if you are a massive fan. I am not going to go through track by track but if you love his previous work this will defiantly leave you wanting more. Hope we don't have to wait as long for his next album as I have never stopped playing I/O since buying it.

A fantastic package
As I don't have an Atmos set-up, I can only appreciate the 2 stereo versions of the album here, which are both very good and subtly different.I don't love all the tracks here, some are great, some are growers and some I don't really care for, but they're all as sumptuous as you'd expect from Peter Gabriel.

Beautiful inspiring music
Beautiful inspiring music but then, it's Peter Gabriel and in my view you can't go wrong with the man. The music is as intellectually and emotionally involving as anything Gabriel has recorded and is a must listen. Even to those who haven't always liked his previous work. This is pretty wonderful. My one gripe is with the CD packaging which while (I'm guessing) is eco friendly etc feels cheap, flimsy and clumsy in use. Nothing about it even hints at the glorious quality of the music. Pulling the discs out from their pockets in the wallet styled paper (Yes! Paper!) feels like with time it will damage them. Not good at all. I wish I'd been braver and forked out for the vinyl option to be honest. So; buy it. Listen to it. Love it. But maybe avoid the CD version if you want the full experience.

Good album bad packaging
Always been a fan of Peter Gabriel and this album though not his best is good. But the packaging is atrocious, surely it would have made more sense to be able to take the discs out from the top. It looks like I'll be buying a pack of plastic sleeves for the discs which isn't exactly environmental friendly and defeating the object of having a cardboard sleeve in the first place!!!

One of Peter's best albums
Peter Gabriel is probably unique in never having released a weak album. I was more than a little nervous when I ordered the 3 disc set, that this near impossible run might come to an end.I'm so glad I did though, i/o might be his best work yet. There simply isn't a weak track on the album and I simply love it. It's been played and played ever since I got it and only gets better each time you listen to it. Sonically and lyrical it stand shoulder to shoulder with any of his previous works.Buy it now. It will be the best album you've bought this decade, unless he releases another in the next 7 years.....if form is anything to go by. Stunning!

Sublime music from Mr Gabriel
This album is making me very happy indeed. Over the years I've kind of faded away from his music. Perhaps it was due to overkill. I listened to it too much. All his albums sat waiting on my shelves for my ears to return. I kind of bought this album out of duty and wasn't in a rush to listen. Now on this miserable Sunday I thought I'd give it a spin. The first thing that struck me is just how good his voice still is. The musicianship is as brilliant as always. I feel like I'm floating on clouds of marvelous melody. Oh really, it's time to fall in love with his music all over again. Truly I can see this being my favorite album of the year.

Worth the wait.
Twenty-one years after his last proper album (A covers album and an album of orchestral rearrangements don't count in my opinion), Mr Gabriel returns with this collection of twelve new songs and it's clear that he's had plenty of time to perfect them. He's not re-invented his style in the intervening years so this album sounds like the one after "Up" should. An excellent album with not a bad track on it. Now that he's stopped drip-feeding us tracks according to the phases of the moon, you should buy the whole thing and wallow in its' magnificence.
