I have two dogs and a long haired cat, and you cannot tell. We walk bare foot in the house so clean floors are important, however, almost impossible with so many in and outdoor animals. Not anymore! I would say it's more useful on hard floors/tile. It does vacuum the carpet, no problem, but if you only have carpet, I would recommend a bigger canister or bag vacuum. Otherwise you will be emptying the can often. I usually empty it twice during each cleaning. But it's a breeze to empty too. I can't say enough good things about this little champ! It turned out it was from the USA and I needed to get an adaptor for the American plug. Then I discovered that the locking pin on the handle was faulty and the whole thing had to be returned. That's when the nightmare REALLY started - it had to be sent back to the USA. It cost over £100 to post and I think I could have shipped ATACMS to Ukraine considering the amount of documentation i had to fill out to get it back to the States. DO. NOT.
