When this can runs out, I may try a different brand of hot wax, however so far the cons slightly outweigh the pros. Cleaning and waxing the chain is a laborious process that I have to do at least every two weeks. I find that the wax dissolves so quickly it actually increases the wear on my drive train. My Shimano Ultegra 11-speed chain, which I've only used with this wax, just reached 50% wear at only 800 miles. I follow the instructions to the letter and my chain always seems to have plenty of wax in the linkages after the bath, then re-wax as soon as I hear any squeaking or if the joints appear dry. Nevertheless but so far my chain has worn significantly faster than if I had just used Triflow. I'm going to shorten my wax interval to only 150 miles, however it will be frustrating having to wax nearly every week (more often if I have to so much as ride through a puddle). Unless you're obsessed with racing and squeezing out every watt, I would stick with oil-based lube.I also tried using the Speedmaster drip wax, but it's also difficult and messy to apply and was only good for adding an hour or two of extra use to a chain. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars If you are not waxing, you are just collecting dirt *by 9***R on Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2020* Amazing results and I did not have to buy 1.6 micron PTFE and wax. It appears pricey but it is put together right so it is actually very economical.the key to using wax is to make sure that your chain is surgeon clean. I use three steps. Step 1. gasoline agitated in a a sealed glass jar for 20 minutes. Old pasta sauce jars work well enough and are free after you eat the sauce.Ste 2. I scrub the chain with a toothbrush and Dawn detergent, both sides. Step 3. Anther jar with degreaser. I use Simple Green full strength for 30 minutes to remove all the petrol and then rinse in hot water. Step 4. a thrid jar with mineral spirits to be certain it is really clean and pure.Air dry then make a dipping device with a old wire hanger and wax it for 20-30 minutes.Take it out and lightly wipe it off. It will be hot so use gloves. Let it cool and the run the chain around your gloved thumb to loosen it. An wooden knob on a drawer in the garage works even better. Mount it up and ride away.If you see wax flakes on your components use a dry paint brush to flick them off.In dry weather, we (3 of us in our family are road bike riders) are getting about 600 miles before rewaxing. No more oils...dirt magnets. I'm a road cyclist averaging 150-200 miles per week with a mix of high speed 20mph+ average rides on flats and some mountain climbs reaching 6k feet elevation. I can really feel the difference right after application. Pedaling feels so much more smooth. I'm getting about 300 miles before needing to re-bath the chain, which is right between the stated distances for reapplication. Oh, and I'm located in SoCal, so it's pretty dry out here. However, YMMV!One of the perks is having your chain super clean... and I mean clean enough to show off to people by swiping your finger on the chain and revealing that your finger isn't smeared with grease or dirt AFTER a century ride!Definitely give this a shot!
