High Quality Plane
Nice looking, with quality parts. Needs little adjustments to be fully functional right out of the box. Using it now as a smoothing plane, works well. The price is great and the company is nice to work with, highly recommend this buy from this small US tool company

Sad when you look closer.
I wanted to like this plane. It came with an extra blade, the wood is exceptionally nice, the casting looked well done. But the closer I looked the sadder I got.The frog screw holes where drilled off so the frog did not sit in the center of the plane, which caused the blade and chipbreaker to be off center in the plan opening. The blade and the chipbreaker were not the same width which further add to my disappointment. The frog itself was not flattened and the 'japanning' was a 'glob' under the frog and was causing it to be tilted to one side.I could have worked with the 'glob' under the frog , but with the holes off center there is no way the plane would have worked...correctly without opening the plane mouth.

Works fine for the price
This is a great plane for the price, the construction is solid and it cuts nicely. I am making a bed frame and used this plane to shave down heavy white oak 4x4 posts. There is a ton of play in the adjustment wheel but it really does not affect the performance of the plane. I did not receive the second blade that is supposed to come with it, the box just had the plane and small instructional diagram. Its a great starting tool for your collection.

Way better than my first plane!
It's a good plane. Much better that the store-brand one that I got from Lowe's.The sides are square, and the bottom is nearly perfectly flat. The machine marks do take some time to work out, but I could sand off all of my reference marks on the first couple of passes. The irons(s) took quite a bit to flatten, and one was ground too hot, discolored at the very edge of the bevel, but it is nice to have a spare iron laying around.I tested on several species of wood; poplar, walnut, oak, and cedar. It handled all admirably, creating uniform, light(or heavy) shavings with minimal effort.

NOT GOOD, NOR WORTH THE MONEY!
arrived timely, however, the extra blade was rusted, assembled blade wrong size, screw to the reinforcement "J" plate not large enough for the slot in blade contacting only one side, both blades not sharpened correctly, needing resharp and honed, overall, I would not recommend this hand plane! ..not even for a beginner!

Tuned it up, perfect performance
Added a mirror finish micro bevel to the blade, easily produces full width shavings for the entire length of the board I'm planing. Also refinished handle and knob, beautiful rosewood. Filed machining marks off of mating surfaces, and deburred some areas. After spending some time with this plane, I feel that it is incredible performance for the dollar, thanks again Caliastro!

Wouldn’t recommend
Had to spend hours flattening the blade on diamond stones, sides are not square with bottom, bad hardware, blades and frog contact points had rust, handle moves side to side, there was paint underneath one of the frog contact points, chip breaker had to be ground also. Would not recommend to beginners. Spend more money on a quality plane.
