They are used in two light fixtures where the bulbs are visible. Therefore, the bulb appearance needs to be similar. They are not a dimmer - a straight off/on single pole light switch. Within two weeks, one bulb after warming up would go off completely. This condition did not change. I considered returning the bad bulb for a replacement bulb, but realized that the cost to return the bulb was no different than replacing it with a new bulb. So ... it would have been 4 stars since 80 per cent of the bulbs worked. However, the fact that it costs just as much money to replace them through warranty makes no sense. Hence, 3 stars. Based on my experience, expect one out of eight to fail. I would not use them on a dimmer, because I would expect an even higher failure rate. Okay then ... I actually ordered four more of the same bulbs knowing this, but I figured it was less expensive than buying all new bulbs from a different manufacturer. Remember, they are visible in the fixture, so they need to be similar. Yes, I can be OCD.However ... I will not buy any of these bulbs in the future. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This one really works, for only 4 watt *by A***. on Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2013* This one is for my desk lamp to replace the dead 9w spiral CFL bulb (40w equiv.). This 4 watt LED light bulb is as bright as my dead 9w CFL (if not brighter), and my eyes are more comfortable with the color (3000k warm white) of the light it delivered, compared to the original CFL which is 2700k (a little bit more yellowish).I tried a few LED light bulbs before, for 40w equiv. they always asked for 6w or more, glad to see we saved another 2w on our bill. Perhaps the MCOB makes the difference? If this one works well in the coming weeks, I will definitely get more for the post lights around my house. They do have a 4-pack deal which I can save $1 more for each bulb.So far, satisifed with my purchase. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The four pack of awesomeness *by D***S on Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2015* These bulbs rock. I bought the four pack to see if I liked them. They arrived today, so I did a basic comparison. My ceiling fan powers four light bulbs. I swapped one of them out and bam! This little 4w LED bulb produced nice warm white light and outshined my 11w halogen bulb. Both bulbs are rated as a 40w replacement but the new light obviously produces more lumens. I wasn't expecting it to be so much better. I also like the look of the new bulb. When both bulbs are illuminated, you can see the interior halogen glass encasement but not so with the LED. The bulb is uniformly lit. It looks great.Out of curiosity, I tested against my incandescent bulbs in the bathroom (a classic 40w bulb - filament and all). Same result. This new bulb produced more lumens, still has the nice warm white look and just looks nicer. The uniform brightness across the entire glass is attractive. I tried to take a picture to show what I mean by uniform. Hope it helps. Taking a picture of lights turned out to be harder than I thought.This brand is definitely worth checking out. I'm ordering more of the 4w bulbs for the bathroom. If there is anything that you might not like, it might be the size or the plastic backing. This bulb is around 10% smaller than the standard bulb size. Also, the glass does not go all the way around the lighting element like a standard light bulb. Neither bothers me but I thought I should mention it to be fair.
