My first piece came out perfect and it was all downhill from there and I ...
If you want to make smaller pieces like the ones shown at the beginning of the book follow all the directions except get a rectifier. You can get one on ebay for about 100 dollars. As for the solution, if you are trying this out to see if you like electroforming it might be eaiser to buy the solution already made.I am still trying to decide if I like electroforming or not. I have made a few things and either I really like them or really do not like them. I am trying to figure out how to make something I like everytime.I really like Jasons videos. Thanks Jason they are great to watch. They inspire me!If you want a smooth texture as opposed to a bumpy texture set your rectifier to .3 volts. the reason this is important to know is because if you are ef-ing something with a lot of texture already, like a shell, you don’t want more texture on top of that.Filter your solution after each use. Trust me just do it. It made a big difference on the smoothness of one peice to the next. Here are a few photos. The one on the right on was my first attempt and I was very happy with it. The second which is the middle one had some issues in that there are air bubbles in the texture. I am guessing that somewhere I did not get enough of the graphite paint in. It started pealing off in the solution. The front side looks ok but the back side looks terrible. To the left we have a couple of crystals where I wanted the finish to be smooth. I set my rectifier to .3 amps and it worked pretty well.I figured I was going downhill because in some instances the recifier was set to high and I had not filtered my solution after EACH use.I am working on a few rings right now. If they are nice enough I will post them here.UPDATE:I have decided that this process is not for me. It is time consuming and really disappointing when you put so much work into a piece and it looks like garbage and you do not know why. I even took a class and most of the students did not like their results. I will find something that gives more predictable results. I gave away my rectifier and everything I bought because it just really upset me that I had spent all that money for such a time consuming, toxic, unpredictable hobby.

I'd almost given up on electroforming... This book arrived at just the right time!
I've been researching online, & finally decided to purchase an official instruction book, since I'd like to begin electroforming soon... But to be honest, everything I've found has required expensive equipment and solutions. I even went to a supplier's site yesterday, and just the basic supplies were staggering... I had almost decided not to pursue electroforming... (Sad day!)Then, THIS book arrived today. The book is thin and the font is large, so I knew it wouldn't be too overwhelming. And I was immediately hooked - I read it cover to cover in one short sitting. There are complete instructions for 2 set-ups: an inexpensive, small-scale set-up that uses a mason jar and 4 AA batteries, & a larger-scale model that uses an ice chest & power supply. I'm really quite excited that the book includes instructions for constructing the chambers AND the solutions, all using easily obtainable and inexpensive supplies.I also really appreciate the section of bloopers, which includes photos and tips.I'm so glad I got this book, and I'm sure it will be well-worn before long!

Not really for a beginner
I have watched his videos and was happy to support him by buying his book. There are good pictures in them but it would have been better for them to be half the size and have more basic info. I thought he would take you from the beginning of making something and go step by step thru till the piece was finished. He does not. He shows a picture of a ring but not what he did to make it. No mention of using an epoxy filler or what it is used for. To make a piece look good. With all the ready made solutions out there that are not that expensive he spends a lot of time on making them. I think that is for a professional not a beginner. I bought a rectifier on Amazon for $60 and there were many for $40 and up. So much easier than making the one in the book which is really not something a beginner needs as it is good for large pieces. Using one of the simple kits that sell for around $100 have everything a beginner needs and makes it not frustrating to get started. This book should have lots more on the process for making nicely finished pieces not just showing them on the cover.I did have trouble understanding the info on using which amps and voltage to use.It is deffinatly not worth the money i will keep it as i did learn a lot from his you tube videos.

Not enough information
Very basic. No pictures of the process of electro forming. Title should be how to build a mini electroforming bath. More information on making the acetone based conductive paint required.

Great
Great for beginning and getting started in electroforming. Some complain that things don’t make sense but if you take the time to read and apply critical thinking where needed this is great.

Very simple
Very easy instructions, clear pictures. Author makes the whole process very easy to duplicate. Wish there was information on using metals in addition to copper however.

Good, but pricey!
Good instruction, but not much content for the price point. Took all of 15 minutes to read. I guess if you have kindle unlimited, the price is not a problem.

Elementary explanations
While the book is very clear but the typeset is extremely large and honestly the book while informative is not worth the value of the cost. I could find more and larger volumes of information on the WWW than this book. It in my opinion is overpriced and the value for the content is not there. I would not recommend or suggest buying this again.

content did not live up to cover images
Sadly not what I was looking for - the cover images made me hopeful that there would be project ideas - what the book contains is nice big colour illustrations of setting up two kinds of elector forming tanks - small and large - if this is what you want, it's a nice, easy tutorial, of the kind that can also be found online. Other than that there is very little else. A disappointment.

Electroforming for Beginners
I found that this book was not near worth the money they are asking for it.It has 64 pages basically how to build your own electroforming kit. Which in my opinion would be cheaper and safer to buy as a kit online. There is nothing in this book that would be worth the price of this book. Far to expensive and not enough information or samples to look at.

I can’t even believe this is an actual published book.
This book used an 80 point font to fill up the pages with very little text or steps on how to actually electro from. When one is going to use acid and electricity to make jewelry, one needs more than basic text. I am not exaggerating, see the picture above of what a page in this oversized book looks like. Based on the information here, I was able to produce the ugliest, worst looking ring on earth. I also got a few chemical burns. I learned nothing from this book, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a beginners book. I have started to use the pages from this book to make funnels to strain my acid before I put it away.
