My Little Pony [DVD] [2017]

Stacks of catchy songs, cute and funny characters and lots of good morals.

My daughters love this film, I was hoping that it would be the film that shows us. Why princess Twilight separated the ponies on the Netflix TV show, but it didn’t

We saw this twice at the cinema before and have watched the DVD a few times. Although our little girl (and us!) are big ponies fans, initially we weren't that impressed with the film but it has grown on us. The weaknesses are to do with it introducing two new groups of characters (pirates and sea ponies) as well as the obligatory new villain. This was presumably to sell toys, and stretched the plot a bit too far. Also the first few minutes are spent introducing the 'mane 6' characters, which was dull. However on the plus side, the new characters are designed, written and acted well enough to be worth the time they spend onscreen, and there are some brilliant ideas in amongst it all. In particular, I liked that the Storm King isn't evil so much as very, very amoral - there is a part where he gets the power to raise and lower the sun and the moon, and his mind goes from "day-night-day-night" to "Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday": the working week. The sidekick Tempest Shadow is a brave portrayal of disability for a kid's cartoon, I'm not sure it would tick all the current 'social justice' boxes, but gotta give them some credit. The songs are excellent, there are better ones in the series, but we bought the CD. It is a bit short on jokes to amuse the adults, and a bit shiny-happy-la-la-la to not need to - but that's a small price to pay for knowing the kids are being entertained (and without being brainwashed, Hasbro are happy if they sell some toys, whereas certain other firms with virtual monopolies big-budget children's movies are really pushing agendas now).

Saw this movie at the cinema and my 5yr old and I really enjoyed it. However I received the package today and the outer packaging was fine, the box over the dvd was fine, neither of the packages were squashed or torn yet the actual dvd case is cracked all along the top and I have yet to open the plastic wrapper to see if the dvd is damaged at all. Not impressed with the overall quality of this item!

I'm fairly sure that we've now watched this enough times that it's basically free 🤣 two poorly kids and then a poorly parent has meant that this purchase has been worth it's weight in gold.Both my 2 and 5 yr old LOVE this movie and tbf after being forced to watch it enough that I can now sing along its actually pretty good. Good if obvious plot line with lovely wholesome messages about the power of friendship and having faith in yourself.My only misgiving is the rapidly expanding herd of plastic ponies we seem to be acquiring as a result. But seeing as they also keep them busy in imaginary pony tales of equestria and actually play together I'm counting that as money well spent too.

Je ne vais pas faire une critique sur le film en lui-même, il y a d'autres sites pour ça. Je dirais juste qu'il s'agit d'un vrai long métrage d'animation et non de plusieurs épisodes collés les uns après les autres (juste au cas où). La série est faite à base d'animations Flash professionnelles alors que pour ce film il s'agit d'animation dite plus classique (image par image) même si faite par ordinateur. 'faut pas rêver sur un retour aux cellulos et tout ce que ça implique sur un film pareil :PJe vais donc juste commenter cette édition limitée avec lequel un petit sac est donné. Le sac n'est pas exceptionnel mais c'est apparemment le seul moyen de l'avoir et puis c'est un goodies plutôt sympa.La qualité du bluray est parfaite, le film est bien adapté à ce support d'autant qu'il y a bien la langue d'origine ainsi que la version française, les deux en DTS. Je précise ce "détail" car certains éditeurs sous prétexte que c'est à destination des enfants, ils n'y mettent que la version française et éradique complètement la version originale et les sous-titres français et même quelques bonus, même les plus simples (sauf les publicités, hélas). Ici, il est possible de choisir la langue avec ou sans sous-titres.Il n'y a pas masse de bonus mais les quelques uns annoncés sur la fiche du bluray sont bien présents sur le disque.Une note très sympathique aussi (uniquement sur l'édition française de ce film ?), l'intro par Twilight Sparkle et Rainbow Dash sur le logo de "Metropolitan Films" pour le changer en "Metroponytan Films". Ce petit passage n'existe pas sur l'édition américaine simplement parce qu'il s'agit du distributeur français (aux US c'est "Lionsgate Home Entertainement" qui distribue le film en Bluray/DVD).Au final, je suis plutôt surpris -de la bonne manière- par cette édition même si elle n'est pas exceptionnelle mais elle est à mon avis suffisante pour un film d'animation comme celui-ci. Et en plus pas trop chère pour une édition limitée le jour de sa sortie.

Ma fille voulait vraiment que j'achète ce film car elle est fan de l'univers My Little Pony.Vu ce que je m'en souvenais de ma jeunesse, je n'étais pas emballée, je détestais les petits poney personnellement avec leur plastique qui sentait mauvais (enfin je trouve), je ne regardais pas les séries à l'époque.Elle m'a forcé à le regarder... Qu'est ce qu'on ne ferait pas pour ses enfants. Et bien franchement, c'était super. Le dessin est très beau, les musiques entraînantes, l'histoire est jolie, pleine de bonnes intentions. Je l'ai même regardé une deuxième fois. Elle a reçu un sac à dos édition limité dans lesquels nous nous sommes empressé de ranger les petits poneys qu'elle a reçu pour son anniversaire. Super, rien à redire. Si votre enfant aime la série, n'hésitez pas. Je recommande.
