This can opener, which had been rated highly in the written reviews, just did not work. I gave it three tries, and each time the handle would not turn. One time I was able to keep using it to pierce the can, over and over around in a circle until I got the lid separated enough from the body of the can so that I could pour out the beans. This method required a lot of effort and a good deal of time.The other times I tried the can opener, however, I gave up and had to throw out the cans, because now the lids were pierced but I could not open them.I don't know if it is a flaw in the design or a flaw in the manufacture of my specific item, but either way it was a disaster. I went back to my cheap basic manual can opener, which is less fancy but always opens the can.

I did not realize how bad my very old can opener was. The Tonicstar is super sharp. Opening cans is so effortless it almost seems like it has a motor. The only potential negative might be for people with small hands who might find the handles a bit large. This is a high quality product that works better than expected.

For about 1.5 years this can opener worked really well. The first year, it worked excellently easy to open cans, quick smooth motion. However, over the last year it has been difficult to open a can in a fluid motion, it would get stuck and I really had to cajole it around and sometimes macgyver the can all the way open. Well finally, it just completely stopped working, 1 year 10 months old it’s done. I was hoping to get a few more years out of a sturdy can opener. Disappointed in the quality.

Nobody likes a crappy can opener. That's why I decided to spend a little extra and try something nicer than the typical dollar store can openers.After getting this though, I should've saved the money and just dealt with the cheaper models because this doesn't work any better. It feels well made and solid, but it does a terrible job at opening cans! The biggest thing is that it doesn't hold the rim if the can well, so it ends up sporadically dropping the can 6-10 times. Obviously this is super frustrating and messy. I've had better luck with some dollar store can openers.

I was in need of a new can opener. When I saw this one on the website and all the reviews, I thought that I hit the jackpot. OMG was I ever wrong. This can opener is the most difficult thing in the world to operate. I couldn't open the can so I asked my husband. He had difficulty--a lot of difficulty. So then and there I decided to return the product because to me it was useless. I couldn't image how difficult the Tonicstar can opener would have been for a person with hand or arm difficulties.I have since bought an OXO Good Grips Smooth Edge Can Opener. It was a little more that I wanted to spend but well worth the money. It is so easy to turn and open a can. I am most pleased with it!

It is relatively light weight - lacks the "heavy quality feel". But the most important part is that it opens cans quite well indeed. Solid pierce, easy ration through the 360 degrees, and complete separation of lid from can. Happy with my purchase.

It does a good job. Sturdy can opener. I'm not as excited about as some others on here comment. I've read all the comments, and had a nice chuckle for some, nice job on the comments yall! It is easy to use even with my psoriatic arthritis. I do like it better than electric ones and it takes up way less space. A good purchace!

Well, based on the reviews I gave this can opener a try and it worked fine for about 6 months. Working is used loosely as my go to can opener is an electric so it probably was called to action less than a dozen times.Unfortunately you have to squeeze the heck out of the handles to get it to bite into the can and once it is in the blade will not sit low enough in the can to cut cleanly. You have to start and stop your turns multiple times and then you have to use a knife or similar to lift the lid and beak where the cuts were not completed.I will invest in a commercial or at least name brand opener from now on.
