Blue Valentine

This is easily one of my favorite records of all time. When I first heard it (aged 16) I didn't understand it and felt unsure why the person playing it rated it so highly. Intrigued, I bought a copy (aged 17) and played it 'round a friend's house on my way home from school. His dad cussed it and said "he's trying to sound like Louis Armstrong". Get it. Listen to it. It's wonderful, intense, beautiful, poetic, wistful, tragic,...and so much more. Its worth it for the orchestration on the opening track alone, especially the trumpet. Most of the songs contain a linear narrative with a unifying theme running throughout the album. For me, this is the culmination of his earlier work and there's not much on it that's not perfect.

Like many of the best pleasures; good Scotch, leaf tea, walking at night in rain, you have to find Tom Waits when it's time.'Blue Valentine' is as a good a place to start as anywhere. The songwriting is second to none, but its an easy album to listen to.This album is brilliant: the question is only ' are you ready for it, yet' ?

My Husband is over the moon with this purchase. It arrived well packaged and quickly was exactly as described. I would highly recommend this seller and product and will be placing further orders.

It's was good. Unfortunately the cover was broken, but everything else was fine.

This is my second CD copy, having first owned the vinyl copy. Love this album. It is a classic that transcends time and ‘popular’ music
