Shoot photos, and adjust aperture, shutter speed and ISO from 100 feet away with Alpine Labs Pulse Bluetooth Camera Remote for Nikon. This photographer essential is an invaluable tool in giving you control over your settings. Wirelessly review low-resolution thumbnails of your recent photos along with histogram data. Plug Pulse directly into your camera’s USB port and take beautiful photos in any situation. Set mid time lapse and time delay, and tackle changing light conditions using exposure ramping. Start a time lapse and disconnect your phone without experiencing an interruption in shooting. Take long exposures over 30 seconds and set any shutter speed. Switch to manual mode to respond better to your developing subject. With HDR, shoot in a wide range of light levels, even the most difficult. Maximize dynamic range with up to 7 EV stops of bracketing. Even trigger video with ease. Just plug the remote into your phone’s USB port instead of the trigger port. Compatible with these Nikon cameras: D1, D1H, D1Hs, D4s, D600, D610, D750, D5200, D5300, D5500, D7100, D7200

I wouldn't recommend it unless you just like to tinker with cool looking toys
The bad:Doesn't work on a Nikon D810. Doesn't come with a micro usb to micro usb cable so if your Nikon supports USB 3.0, you are probably out of luck. Thumbnail viewing of the last shot fails more than it works. Requires lots of tinkering to keep it working. You can't see a picture of what you just shot even on the camera screen, so you are always shooting blindly. Video recording on my D7100 just puts the camera in PC mode so nothing is ever recorded. Almost all features that use the screen on the back of the camera are disabled as long as the Pulse is connected to your camera's usb port (other than Menu and Info). The good:Works pretty well on my Nikon D7100 for everything but video recording when I disable the thumbnail viewer in the app.

Won't hold a charge, customer service is non-responsive
First one would not hold a charge out of the box. I contacted Alpine and have not heard back from them. I ordered another one and returned the other... hopefully it works. I'll update my review when I get the new one. As of now, I'm not impressed with their customer service.

Great for time lapses and long exposures
Great for time lapses and long exposures, doesn’t have a live view which is really annoying

Check your cameras ports first.
I was shipped three cords to connect the Pulse to my D800. What I’m assuming is required is a micro to micro usb cord. Nothing supplied with this unit works if you have a usb 3.0 b port (see images). There is no customer service number with Alpine Labs. Therefore I’ve been getting an email a day, looking for a remedy to this connectivity issue. So far the customer service agent isn’t sure what there cables are provided with the unit either. Buyer beware. Will update with fixes. Sure wish Alpine could include the correct $2 cable. The only fix I know of would be to get a small cord or adapter from a third party.

Little support
Nice idea. Had issues attaching from my phone with Bluetooth, once connected to camera via cord. Would connect fine when not connected to the camera. Was not able to find resolution to my issue with the little manual that came with it. Not really any support online. I did find that most everything I wanted to do with my Nikon D5300 I could do by attaching through the WiFi network of the camera. By doing this I didn't have to have an additional device attached to the camera.
