Energy drinks have shot up in price
I normally use pre-workout and a Monster. The prices have shot up, I was looking for something not so expensive but also still tasted nice. These are about £23/£25 a slab on the supplement sites. You want to drink this on your way to the gym, 20-30 minutes before exercise. I sometimes keep it for halfway through my gym session for that extra boost at the end.Their pre-workout is 250mg of caffeine compared to the cans at 200mg.

Well priced, strange taste
Priced very well for a pre-workout drink, especially one with this level of caffeine in it. I find the flavour to be a little confusing, I can't really make out the watermelon flavour but just kind of intense sweetness and fizzyness. Almost as if I was eating a sour sweet honestly, that is the best comparison I can give.As a drink purely for utility to get me going before a workout, this is great. Although I would personally probably opt for something else if i wanted a caffeine kick while enjoying the flavour a little more.

Good value, effective, fast-acting pre-workout drink, and super tasty too
For twelve cans at less than twenty quid, these seemed like a value option for pre-workout drinks. But they more than punch above their weight in terms of quality - they're premium-packaged, and taste great, unlike many over-sweetened pre-supps. I've been trying the Atomic Passion flavour, which is a really nice Lilt-style flavour - great if you like pineapple. Very nice and low in cals, too, coming in at just 24 per can. All boxes ticked. The mix is really effective - I get the characteristic 'finger tingle' when I take them, which is the beta alanine and niacin no doubt - but otherwise it's a smooth hit of pre-workout, with a good energy boost without pushing me into hyperactivity. The caffeine level is 200mg, which is equivalent to two or three espressos - an effective amount without being ridiculously high (although watch it if you have coffee around the same time too). All bases are covered too, with the inclusion of citrulline malate and glycerol, which are great to see.All in all they're fab little pick-me-ups before a heavy workout or cardio sesh; for the price, they're have a surprisingly comprehensive set of active ingredients, too. Tasty, effective and fast-acting - I don't hesitate in recommending these.

Not nice
No mention its sugar free in the description wich means it's got that nasty artificial sweetener taste horrible 1st and last time buying

Not my favorite.
The flavour is tolerable, but not particularly pleasant. I didn't get a good energy boost either, and i am very familiar with most caffeine products including pre-workouts. I personally wouldn't recommend these as a pre workout. As a morning drink to replace your coffee, then fine... but caffeine is caffeine, where it comes from really doesn't matter all too much. I just found this weak in effect. It was simply not stimulating enough and my gym performance was notably down. I finished them as they were expensive but i won't be re-purchasing.

excellent
I recently got the SCI-MX X-PLODE Pre-Workout Energy Drink in the Atomic Passion flavour. I was very pleased with the product and it definitely gave me a kick before my workout! The product contains 200mg of natural caffeine, 3000mg of Citrulline Malate, Vitamin B3, B6, and B12. It also has 24kcal per serving and is suitable for vegans. I found that it gave me the energy to push through my workouts and I had fewer aches and pains post-workout. The taste was great and not overly sweet. Overall, I'm very pleased with the product and would definitely recommend it to other fitness enthusiasts.

Pleasant Flavour Fizzy Drink
I ordered these 12 x 330ml cans of SCI-MX - X-PLODE Pre-Workout Energy Drink on 22 Nov 23 but have been unable to submit my review of them until today, 24 Jan 24, due to Amazon withdrawing them from sale, for reasons unknown to me. Despite having prepared my review back in Nov, I was unable to submit it, because the ‘Review item’ button was missing from the item, listed amongst my orders as ‘Not yet reviewed.’ Fortunately, it seems that Amazon sales of the SCI-MX - X-PLODE Pre-Workout Energy Drinks appears to have resumed, so today I am able to submit my review.I ordered these drinks, not for use pre-workout in a gymnasium, but to drink before setting off on a lengthy ride on my road bike. I do long ‘endurance rides’ – for example, I rode 700 miles at age 70 in 7 days, English Channel to the Mediterranean, raising over £8K for 3 charities, but that was without the aid of any SCI-MX - X-PLODE Pre-Workout Energy Drinks. However, though still riding long distances, I am now 7 ½ years older, so I though a booster drink might help.Regrettably, I did not notice either positive or negative effect through consumption of a 330ml can of SCI-MX - X-PLODE Pre-Workout Energy Drink before I set off for a 100-mile practice ride with my 43-yr-old cycling & squash buddy. It was a chilly but sunny Dec day, but we were suitably clad. However, as daylight hours are short at that time of year, & an isolated café we had intended to stop off at for refreshments was closed, we cut our ride shorter & headed for home, completing only 70 miles that day. I don’t recall feeling any gain or loss of speed, or maintenance of energy, from drinking the can of SCI-MX - X-PLODE half an hour before setting out. I did not take any more SCI-MX - X-PLODE with me, as a fizzy drink would not last well in my water bottle. In any case, I put hypotonic electrolyte tablets in my water bottle to sustain electrolyte levels during my ride, & periodically consume energy gels or bars to keep fuelled up.The SCI-MX - X-PLODE Energy Drink had a slightly acidic fruity taste, though without the clue in the title of the Amazon listing for the drink, stating it to be a sour melon flavour, I could not have named the fruit from which the flavour was derived. As I do not get a ‘hit’ from caffeine when I drink coffee, it may be that I am caffeine immune. I understand that it does not have the same effect on everyone. Maybe that is why this drink did not give me any extra go. If, unlike me, you do get a strong boost from coffee, it may work entirely more beneficially for you. I hope so.Considering the price of this drink (£27.49 for 12x 330ml cans when I ordered it) & the lack of any different effect upon me than any other drink, I have awarded only 3 stars.
