I still remember this after 30 years
I had to read this on middle school and that was 30 years ago now. I often thought of it over the years, it made such an impression on me. I recently bought it again as an adult. It's a short book, and contains references to smoking (just fyi) but is definitely worth a read. I'm glad I revisited it and will make my kid read it when he's about 12/13 I think.

Must-read prequel
This is an excellent prequel to 1984, especially for young readers. I already own a copy but continue to buy more as gifts, a must-read!

Classic
This is a short book. It was required reading for my son. And I had read it when I was his age. It's based on a true story and I believe has a movie from like, the 70s. Its a classic and is still very relevant today!

Read this book
Couldn't put it down. The climax begins with a third of the book left, and keeps on rising to the last page. Very relatable to current events. Everyone should read this book.

Shocking story.
A quick and short book about the dangers of collective manipulation based on a true story that took place after a high school history teacher in Palo Alto, CA in 1969 took a World War II lesson about Nazi Germany way too far. The teacher turned the student's curiosity about how German citizens allowed holocaust atrocities to occur to a whole other level by conducting an experiment that ultimately brainwashed a majority of the kids to become a fascist group called the Wave, with the teacher as their leader. Now I am not sure how accurate the book is to the actual story but I can definitely picture this happening in modern day America given our current social and political situation. The book reminded me how easily history can repeat itself under the right circumstances, which something we should be very cognizant of.

Not riveting
Based loosely on a true story and now required reading in many middle school classrooms. The original magazine article rang hollow to me, and the book had the same effect. Could this happen? Sure. But in a week? Hardly. It is an intriguing story, but not particularly well written. Good YA lit, in my opinion, should be so well written that adults are drawn in. This does not do that.

"Strength through discipline...."
I've been carrying around this book in my bag for a while with intention to read it MONTHS ago. I decided to pull it out yesterday and made my way through it fairly quickly. While it is a short read (138 pages), it is a very informative read. It shows just how easily it is for history to repeat itself if you're not paying attention and not intentional. I will also be watching a short 45 minute video on this "experiment" I found on YouTube when I can find a minute to do so!

Page Printing was off
This book was shipped fast and is in brand new condition. However, the printing is off on every page. I bought this for a teacher’s classroom, so this is unfortunate.
